Getting ready for a Royal Caribbean cruise with my Gateway agency friends! We’ll be sailing on the Freedom of the seas Nov 6. RANT-
WDW has upset me for the last time. Their customer service has gone from magical to a joke. Covid has ruined the most magical place in the world. I’ve ignored the evil they hide in their movies and just focused on the parks, and the experience they provide. But when they started closing things, ending the extras, and charging more I got upset. They expect travel agents to get paid a small % of only some of the things we help with, while upping their prices every year and taking away the magic. But I ignored that too. Despite all that they’ve always tried to provide the best on site experience for their guests. Until now.
I spent hours on the phone trying to make a very sad situation better for a sick client. The lady I spoke to was very kind and empathetic. She agreed they would “sprinkle some fairy dust” on this reservation and make this trip amazing instead of sad. She spoke to so many different levels of authority, assured me the child would receive a gift in their room, and that they were still deciding on what to do for the family. Any time I’ve ever heard of this kind of request being made, the end story was awesome. Tear worthy. Memory making.
My clients received nothing. Not even a note. I’m so upset. They could have done anything for them, but did nothing. The stories I’ve heard from agents about what’s been done in the past really had my hopes up. I felt like this family would remember this trip for a good thing instead of for the awful situation they’re in. I literally said “Disney don’t fail me now!” But they did. So I’m done. I will not represent them any longer. I promised one family I’d book their trip tomorrow night, but after that if you come to me for WDW, know you will hear ALL the bad info before I book for you. Did anyone notice a while back I changed my business name from Gateway to Magic, to just Gateway Travel? I’ve been debating this for a while. My client literally couldn’t leave their room for a few days while there, and they couldn’t even give them a room upgrade? Flowers? Chocolates, balloons? Nothing?? I’m so upset and heartbroken for them. They deserved to be treated better. Shame on you disney.

Cruising it’s more complex than you think. Each cruise line, and each ship has its own vibe/experiences. Make sure you talk to me about what you’re looking for so I can book you the one most suited for your wants! MSC was relaxing, with not a lot of events on the schedule that I would enjoy, so 11nts was pretty long. But if I were on say a Royal Caribbean quantum class ship it would be not long enough! Lol. It’s good to just relax too sometimes, so it’s all about your expectations for your trip. Here’s some pics of the MSC Meraviglia’s repositioning cruise moving to NYC. We visited Bahamas, Jamaica, Aruba, Curaçao and the Dominican Republic. 🥰
