Practical Shooting Instruction offers a wide variety of classes to help those interested in self prot

If you want to shoot faster and more accurately you should train with people that shoot faster and more accurately. The goal of Practical Shooting Instruction is to introduce people to safe gun handling and concealed carry, to introduce new shooters to concepts of defensive pistol and to the sport of competition shooting. We are located in Missoula, Montana, and our classes are held at Western Mon

tana Fish and Game's Deer Creek Shooting Center. Nate Martin and Scott Giesick began teaching gun safety, defensive pistol, and competition shooting classes starting in April 2011. Their defensive pistol and competition classes are based on the multiple classes they have taken from the very top competitive shooters and defensive instructors, including Mike Seeklander, Keith Garcia, Ron Avery, Todd Jarrett, Max Michelle, Manny Bragg, Travis Tomasi, and Phil Strader. Both instructors have gained quite a bit of insight into what it takes to shoot accurately under pressure. There are some basic changes most shooters can make to improve their performance. Both Nate and Scott believe by sharing their experiences from competition, law enforcement and several hundreds of thousands of rounds downrange, they can help you shoot your best. Training comes with weather. During a recent 5 day training where I was an instructor, 4 of the days were above 97. Long days on a blacktop range. Add body armor and you can easily end up in the hospital. What’s your plan? Mine was 1. Fluids, COLD fluids seem to help me. 2. Twice a day sunscreen. 3. SHADE, get out of the sun for a few minutes, bring your own even if it is an umbrella. 4. Chair, get off your feet in the shade for 10 minutes an hour if possible.

You have a really good job, or you are a recent lottery winner. For $700 a sheet (3'x8') you can get bullet resistant sheeting for inside your wall. I came into possession of a small square. The pics show that up to a .44 mag you are good. .223 went right through.

HEALTH AS WE AGE
Scott and I are reaching a “certain age” where working out is less fun. Scott has been super regular with weights and a healthy eater. I have always eaten everything I see but been on the treadmill 5 days a week. Fat, but active. In April of 2023, my gallbladder tried hard to kill me. By the time I got to the hospital the doc gave me a 1 in 5 chance to get out. Great docs and following directions got me out and alive.

I have never struggled to get back on the treadmill, it is my time for TV, no phone and to feel better. Until now. I had always gone 3 miles at 4% incline. Not now. I haven’t been regular at the gym. My weight is up, 2 miles has been a good day, and haven’t felt myself. I have talked to my pastor, listened to motivational guys and it has helped.

When I started exercising in the 80’s I always listened to music and it was great. I talked to Heidi about it and started back with loud music on Friday. 3 straight days with 3 miles and it didn’t feel terrible. I don’t know why music is so motivating to me. The gym tomorrow and do what I do best, hammer nails. Do it the same every week. We will see.
