Here's a current river...well, ice...report🙂 The river's up, you might notice how high it is on the rocks at the landing. Some serious ice flows, there will be no paddling for the next few days 🤣

Good morning and Merry Christmas WRO Nation from atop Piestewa Peak in PHX! Enjoy your day with friends and family! And, do me a favor, think about paddling at some point in '25 today! 🙏

The Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) is a fast-growing deciduous tree native to eastern North America, including Wisconsin. It is known for its distinctive, deeply-lobed leaves, which are green on top and silvery-white underneath, creating a shimmering effect when the wind blows. The bark is smooth and gray when young, becoming shaggy and fissured with age. Silver Maples can reach heights of 50-80 feet, and their spread can be equally wide, making them excellent shade trees. They thrive in moist, well-drained soils and are commonly found along rivers and in wetlands. However, they can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions. Silver Maples produce small, yellowish flowers in early spring, followed by winged seeds called samaras, which disperse with the wind. Their extensive root systems can be aggressive and may impact nearby structures or underground utilities. Silver maples are also known for their brittle wood, making them prone to damage from wind, ice, and heavy snow. Despite this, their resilience and adaptability make them a popular choice for landscaping and ecological restoration projects.

Spent the night on the river on Sunday, it was absolutely magical! The high had been 82° and it cooled off nicely into the evening. Didn't get on the water until about 5:00 and paddled for a little over an hour and set up camp between Blue River and Boscobel. There was a beautiful breeze as the sunset and it kept up until about 9:30. This is a quick overnight that I'll remember all winter! Reach out if you're interested in going out this weekend. Looks like the forecast is for dry and 60°.

If you'd woken up on the river this morning, this would have been your view.

And down goes the Lone Rock bridge! On this absolutely gorgeous weekend, we have only four boats on the water 😟 It's going to be 82° with a slight breeze and there are sandbars everywhere! Scott's going to do a quick overnight on the river tonight, and then put his paddling gear away. As of right now, next weekend looks like mid-60s and we have at least one group contemplating going out. It's not too late, if you want to get one more fall paddle in, reach out as soon as possible so we can get you set up.

Good Saturday morning! We've got boats going out this weekend as we're experiencing a bit of a cool off. We've had incredible weather for about 6 weeks now! Disappointing this wasn't happening in June and July, but we don't have control over that. After a bit of a cool off here earlier in the week, I'm not even going to show some of those numbers, it's supposed to warm back up into the mid-70s by the weekend. If you've never done fall paddling, bring something to keep your feet warm, bring a nice fleece, and hopefully you have about a 30 or 35 degree sleeping bag so you're comfortable at night. You will NEVER enjoy a fire more or your morning cup of hot beverage then you will on a brisk morning out on the river. Give us a call or shoot us an email if you're interested in setting up a trip, you will not be able to book online. We'd love to see you for what are the last couple of chances to get out on the water in 2024!
