November’s tough, friends—that lack of day light hits hard. Need some fresh mountain air and a weekend adventure to stave off the pre-winter blues? We’ve got just the thing. Join us on Saturday, November 30th for the next summit in our 4,000 Footers Club: Mt. Pierce!

Mt. Pierce is often the first 4,000 footer that hikers ascend, so if you’re looking for a good introduction to colder-weather hiking, this is a great outing to join us on! There’s a reasonable chance we’ll even get some ice and snow at the top—a nice break from stick season monotony.

Click the link in our bio to read more about our 4Kers Club and swipe to the second photo for some helpful stats on hiking Mt. Pierce.

As a reminder, all our hikes include round-trip transportation, backpack, hydration bladder, traction gear for inclement conditions, and even snacks. All you need is footwear and a sense of adventure—we’ll handle the rest.

We live for the wild moments—thin cut paths through scented forests, bald peaks with winds that push you this way and that, muddy trails, moss-covered cairns, and endless views above the treeline. And we think you should join us, too. Book a guided hike and gift yourself some wild.

Did you know that all Guineafowl outings include round trip transportation in our MB Sprinter van? It’s clean, cozy, and has tons of room for gear, snacks, and all your pals. Parking, trailhead fees, traffic, routing… we handle it all. And if you fall asleep in the back on the drive back after a big hike, your secret is safe with us 😉🚐

We had every possible weather and hiking condition on a guided trip across Frankenstein Cliffs and down to Arethusa Falls this weekend. Wind, rain, frozen rain, snow (!!!), muddy trails, full sun, gloomy autumnal vibes, and dramatic moody skies. It felt like everything all at once. Our client experienced snowliage (snow + foliage 😉) for the very first time and just couldn’t get over how beautiful it was. Sometimes the transition from fall to winter is a little uneven. No matter how many hours (and it’s thousands, friends!) our guided rack up in the White Mountains, we still find new experiences and conditions. What a hike! Enjoy the last of autumn while you can.

🚨🍁 Foliage update, friends! Here’s the intel from our exploring the last week or so: it’s just past peak in the Northern Presidentials and allll that wind this weekend definitely knocked a fair amount of leaf volume down. If you haven’t gotten out for a foliage drive or hike yet, *do it now* as by the end of this weekend we’ll be fully past peak foliage! Stick to the south and east of the White Mountain National Forest and slightly lower elevations. What a beautiful time of year!! 🍁🍂

We’ve got big news about some big peaks, friends! We’re happy to announce our Guineafowl Adventure Co 4,000 Footers Club!

The last Saturday of each and every month, we’ll be summing one of New Hampshire’s 48 highest peaks. Each month is booked independently and the next 6+ months of GFAC NH48 hikes are listed on our website—so you can pick and choose which outings work for your schedule and needs.

As with all our outings, GFAC NH48 hikes are all-inclusive, including transportation to and from the White Mountains from Greater Boston, backpacks, hydration, and snacks. All you need is footwear and a sense of adventure.

Our very first GFAC NH48 hike will be Saturday, October 26th and we’ll be summiting Mount Moosilauke. Each 4,000 Footers Club hike is limited to *ten* guests, so click the link in our bio to sign up now… we’re booking out fast for these.

Why start a 4,000 Footers Club? First and foremost: community. As our business grows and evolves, we want to ensure we still maintain plenty of opportunities for what we love most—getting folks from the Boston area to the White Mountains for guided day hikes, especially hikes that people might not do without a guide. Much of the NH48 are accessible-enough hikes that might not require particularly advanced mountaineering skills, but the route planning and logistics are a heck of a lot easier with a guide. So, come along and we’ll make this big achievement a bit easier.

A topic worth discussing that guides sometimes try to avoid talking about: cutting a trip early or changing the plan mid-trip.

Adverse conditions, pacing, and potential for injury amongst other factors can sometimes prevent a trip from reaching its planned conclusion; but that doesn’t at all signify a “bad” trip or even an unsuccessful one.

We recently guided a Mahoosuc Traverse with two clients including a wonderful woman just 68 years young that’s soon undergoing back surgery. She has section-hiked a significant portion of the AT already, and wanted to do the Mahoosuc Traverse before her surgery just in case she couldn’t hike like she used to afterwards.

Conditions were far from ideal: lots of rain and muddy trails. After making it through a remarkably rocky scramble with slippery conditions, we made the call to end things early and hike down after a night in nearby shelter. Spirits were high and an awesome adventure was had—and this incredibly resilient client still hiked 17 miles of the AT’s most infamously challenging section.

Our job as guides is often about identifying disconnects between abilities, conditions, objectives and the ultimate goal of getting back safely. The mountain aren’t going anywhere—and we can’t wait to be there again with this client next year when she’s recovered from surgery and stronger than ever.

We had a perfect day hiking Cannon Mountain on a recent guided client trip! The Hi-Cannon Trail is on an infamous local list of New Hampshire’s scariest routes, the Terrifying 25, but it’s not so bad if you tag along with a guide 😉.

We lived life on the *ledge* on the way up (dad joke 🚨), took in the spectacular views at the summit, and made great time on the way down—passing by Lonesome Lake and visiting the AMC hut there.

This route is an absolute blast if you’re up for a solid challenge with sharp elevation gain but don’t want to commit to a ton of mileage for a day hike.

The days are cooling down and getting a bit shorter… book a summer outing with us before it’s too late!

Last week we said goodbye to our final Art and Explore summer youth camp of the season. We took our campers on a hike up Wachusett Mountain for a summit lunch and some art creation time. It was a moody day filled with misty fields, salamanders on rocks, colorful mushrooms, and dew clinging to spider webs. It’s been such a fun summer filled with hiking and creativity—and we’re incredibly thankful for our partners Kyle Browne Creative and Arlington Community Education.
