considering a wedding in italy? 🇮🇹
take it from me, planning a wedding in italy is fun but also comes with its challenges. here are a few tips we learned from our special day abroad…
☑️ select the right location and venue: consider italy’s diverse landscape - rolling hills and vineyards, coastal seaside towns, cities filled with history and architecture.
☑️ understand the legal requirements: italy has specific legal requirements for foreigners to marry there. consider a civil or religious ceremony.
☑️ hire a local wedding planner: a wedding planner will help you navigate everything from permits to the best local vendors.
☑️ consider the time of year and weather: the most popular months for weddings in italy are may through october with june-august being high season.
☑️ guest accommodations: depending on your wedding size, consider a large villa for your guests or individual rooms in a luxury hotel. consider a room block.
☑️ photography and videography: hire a local photographer who knows how to capture the beauty of the area, opt for a pre-wedding shoot to ensure the vendor is capturing your style.
☑️ plan for travel logistics: make your travel arrangements well in advance including flights, airport transfers, group transportation, dining and activity reservations.
☑️ wedding favors and personal touches: personalize your wedding with italian-inspired touches such as hand-painted ceramic, limoncello bottles or a guest book with italian images for guests to sign (we purchased one from and it was 🤌🏼)
☑️ budget: set a realistic budget and stick to it. don’t forget to factor in extra costs like travel for yourself, vendor tips, cost of legal documentation or permits.
☑️ insurance: traveling to your wedding destination comes with its risks like flight cancelations/delays, lost luggage and (unfortunately) sickness. purchase insurance to cover your investment.
