About a year ago Parent Tours visited a powerful project by artist Lee Mingwei at the Gardner Museum. Known as The Mending Project, this piece was about healing and was created when the artist was in NYC right after 9/11 and didn’t know where his partner was. Wanting to keep himself busy, he began fixing and sewing all the clothing that he could find at home. For this project, visitors were invited to bring something they needed fixed. Although each piece was stitched with a different color thread to symbolize how something may remain forever changed, this is one of the most beautiful works about healing and mending.
