UPDATE:

We are delighted to inform you that the first of the three shrines, destroyed by a fire, was rebuilt on November 16, 2024. It was a touching moment when the villagers knew that one of the holy spirits could return to its shrine.  

We are still accepting donations to rebuild the other two shrines and to reach our fundraising goal. Komang and his community can only do this in stages, as each shrine’s birthday (celebration) is different, so they have to rebuild them one at a time. They hope to complete the project by the end of 2025, when all three spirits will peacefully be home in the village.

Thank you for supporting this effort on behalf of Bulian Village, Komang, and the ATJ Foundation. Production for the second shrine will start soon.

BULIAN VILLAGE NEEDS OUR HELP
 
We have urgent news from Bali, Indonesia, that requires our attention. Our dear friend Komang Wardiapa and the community in Bulian Village need our support.

A tragic fire has destroyed three sacred shrines, each dedicated to the spirit of an ancient Balinese king. These shrines hold immense cultural and traditional significance for the village; we ask that we come together to help them rebuild. 

We aim to raise $50,000 and are thrilled to share that the ATJ Foundation will match the first $25,000 in donations. This cause holds a special place in our hearts, and we are dedicated to standing by Bulian Village as they endeavor to rebuild.

Once every twelve years, millions gather to take a dip in the divinely charged waters of the Ganges and Yamuna Rivers, amplified by the auspicious planetary alignments, in a frenzied pursuit of spiritual purification.

The Maha Kumbh Mela centers around ritualistic bathing in the holy waters where the mythical elixir of immortality is believed to have fallen. Set to be celebrated in Allahabad (Prayagraj) in January & February 2025, its sheer scale, spiritual fervor, and cultural immersion will be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

The energy is electrifying, and the visual spectacle is simply breathtaking. Holy men in saffron robes and ash-covered bodies engage in extraordinary displays of austerity. Some stand upright on one leg for extended periods, sometimes even years. Some tend to blazing fires for hours, seemingly impervious to the heat. Some practice extreme asceticism by remaining unclothed throughout the year to renounce worldly possessions and desires. Many maintain prolonged silence, limit food intake, and commit to yogic postures.

The Kumbh Mela is a microcosm of India itself. It is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, estimated to have over 120 million people attending in its next edition in 2025. Here, people from all walks of life, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds come together, united by their faith.
