Thereās another side of my job that isnāt often highlighted, because although thankfully it doesnāt happen often, it happens: the unsatisfied traveler. Itās easy to highlight the amazing things (this is IG after all), but what happens when clients are in their destination not having an amazing experience?
Hereās what I tell folks to do if you get to your hotel and something isnāt passing the vibe check:
1ļøā£ Inform the Front Desk š©š¾āš»
Based on the nature of your issue, the front desk is your first line of defense. They can efficiently address concerns related to your room and similar matters, which tend to be the bulk of issues I hear about.
2ļøā£ Speak with Hotel management š§š¾āš¼
If youāre not getting anywhere with the front desk, thereās a manager around and you may have to escalate your complaint. Their job is to help guests and make sure they can resolve any issues, within their scope of ability.
3ļøā£ Holla at ya girl šš¾
If you still arenāt getting anywhere, let me know. You now have the paper trail at the hotel documenting who you spoke to, but now itās time to bring me, the supplier and my corporate contacts onboard.
I KNOW how frustrating it is to invest money in a vacation and it not go as planned. Trust me, Iāve been there!!! Pleeeeasssseee keep in mind that youāve taken time away from your job to visit these people at their jobs, and no one likes getting cussed out at work. Be assertive, be persistent but be kind ā itāll get you better results! š š¤š¾

After visiting over 60 all-inclusive resorts, I have opinions. And because of those opinions, if I wouldnāt book a trip to a certain property, Iām not sending my clients there either.
This is one reason that my trips to Mexico and the Caribbean are so crucial. Sure they look funā¦but thereās a LOT of walking (in extreme heat) involved. 60 resorts is barely the tip of the iceberg ā youāll find more resorts than that in the Cancun area!!
As a couple or group leader trying to choose between HUNDREDS of resorts, this is why working with someone who has actually had āboots on the groundā and has a feel for certain destinations is critical.
