Avalanche Preserve is only a half mile from the cottage. And NO, you don’t have to climb the steps if you don’t want to. There are beautiful hiking trails that take you to the overlook. Whichever way you choose, the view is worth the climb.

The view from the top of Avalanche Preserve, at the edge of Boyne City, is incredible.

It’s sleigh ride season!!! We love this time of year. Being able to meet new people, seeing the joy on their faces when they are in the sleigh, the smell of hot coco and cookies, hearing all the chatter on the sleighs, sleigh bells, and the smell of the fire are just a few things we love about sleigh ride season! Seeing what’s blooming in the yard at Cedar Hill Cottage. There are literally 5 magnolia blooms left on the tree. So glad I got to see them before they’re gone.

So. Our dryer gave out last week. And we’ve been scrambling to find a new stackable set instead of a tiny laundry center. No luck at any big box store unless we buy downstate, wait for them and then haul them up to Boyne.

Saturday I made a last ditch effort to find something local. Found out there was an ABC Warehouse in Ga***rd, called them, and they had it in stock. They could deliver it today. Thats where all the fun begins!

Set gets delivered. With NO stacking kit. Installers have to leave to make other deliveries. I raise holy hell at ABC Warehouse and get a stacking kit brought out. In the meantime, Matt realizes there’s no plug for the washer. Cause the laundry center had one plug for both. Matt wires a plug for washer, and then we have to install. SO MANY SWEAR WORDS!! So a project that should’ve taken an hour or so and not done by us took all freaking day, and we did it ourselves.

Murphy’s Law was strong today. But we figured it out and got it done. Making lemonade out of those lemons...it’s time for a drink (or 7).

Forgot to share how the door turned out!! I’m so glad I didn’t listen to Matt Sova. Removing the glued on paneling revealed a beautiful solid wood paneled door. Took way more work than I thought to get it looking good, but it was so worth it!

Getting wild and crazy on a Wednesday! There was a fuel oil furnace in here when we bought the house. And way back in the day, a coal furnace. So much grime on this floor. Scrubbing and then two rinses. I’ll be having beer and CBD gummies for dinner.

Still working on ALL of the projects. Making great progress. The paneled side of the door got its last coat of blue today. Went with Behr Tahitian Sky mixed half strength. Just the next color card over from Dew Pointe. Now I have to let it fully dry and then turn it over to clean and paint the other side. $10 headboard will go in the pink bedroom. The wall behind the bed is only 48” tall, so we will cut it down and hang it on the wall. Eagle mirror got a makeover and will go in the blue patriotic bedroom. I’m loving the little improvements! @ Cedar Hill Cottage

Another project almost done. Just need to get some insulated staples to secure the cord. Poor hubby. Should’ve taken maybe an hour, but took closer to 5 because it needed to be modified so the fan blades didn’t hit the beams. Love the simple design and how the blades blend in with the ceiling so well!
