About Brook Wash Real Estate

Born and raised in Northern Michigan, Brook earned his B.Sc. in Political Science and an MBA from MSU. His technology management career took off quickly and spanned twenty years, most recently as Senior VP and CIO of Greenstone, a $9B financial services firm.

Brook and his wife Rachel got their start in real estate through residential investments. They found, however, that the firms managing their investments often provided poor service at a high cost, with little care for either of their financial or emotional concerns. Together, they decided to build their own property management company, combining Brook’s experience with Rachel’s customer service-minded attention to detail. After a loyal following grew among friends and the extended realty community, Brook committed to leaving the corporate world altogether to pursue entrepreneurship in real estate. Their first foray was in Colorado’s renowned Vail Valley.

Ocean Summit Travel was their first purchase, a ski/beach vacation travel agency in Boulder, CO. Shortly thereafter, they purchased Mountain Management in Beaver Creek Resort, Vail Valley’s most prominent property management company. In a little more than four years, Brook built these two companies into The Travel Whisperer, an IATAN-accredited luxury travel agency that manages more than $250B in assets and represents some of the finest homes throughout the Rocky Mountains, Caribbean, and Mexico. Ironically, just as this business was getting started, one of Brook's largest real estate clients made an offer to buy the company. The sale allowed Brook and the family to return to Michigan, where they could use the tremendous experience gained in Colorado to re-brand their Michigan-based property management and vacation rental company, Northern Michigan Escapes (NME). NME is Northern Michigan’s premiere vacation home advisory firm, overseeing 200+ properties, several condotels, and multiple home owner associations (HOA), all with a team as passionate about exceptional service and Northern Michigan as Brook is.

Brook saw untapped potential in the luxury vacation home market in Northern Michigan. While Northern Michigan does have many great realtors in the region, few have the financial background Brook does to help clients properly evaluate and understand cash flow and ROI, determining whether a vacation home makes financial sense.
