Today marks the 30 year anniversary of the wolf reintroduction into Yellowstone National Park!!!

Easily one of the most momentous conservation success-stories in human history, the reintroduction of wild wolves into the world’s first National Park has had a powerful impact in bolstering the economic and ecological health of the entire Greater Yellowstone Area.

Yellowstone Safari Company started in 1991, before the wolves returned to the Park, and we are honored and inspired to have been able to watch this wildlife saga play out over the last three decades.

Today, and everyday, we celebrate the remarkable return of the wild wolf to Yellowstone, and we welcome you to come and witness their epic story.

Winter isn’t often thought of as a good season for bird watching since many of our feathery friends will migrate south when the cooler temperatures arrive, but here in Yellowstone, several of our most sought-after birds are still here on the snowy landscape!

Recently, we’ve been having spectacular sightings of Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, and many others, but the tiny and terrific Pygmy Owls have REALLY been impressing our guests!

Pygmy Owls are about the size of a baseball, and are often seen hunting for mice, voles, and small birds throughout the Park’s Northern Range!

Join us for a Winter Wildlife Safari as we celebrate all of Yellowstone’s incredible wild animals, both big and small!

As the ice begins to accumulate around Yellowstone’s waterways, some of the Park’s most fascinating wildlife become easier to spot, like the always-entertaining River Otters!

Recently during one of our Winter Wildlife Safaris, we got to watch a group of three Otters slipping-and-sliding their way across the ice of the Lamar River, and then repeatedly dive underwater to catch trout!

Yellowstone is home to eight members of the weasel-family (Mustelidae), can you name the other seven???

Yellowstone’s annual Bighorn Sheep rut has begun!!!

This amazing wildlife event brings one of the most iconic species of the Rocky Mountains up-close-and-personal to our Winter Wildlife Safari guests!

During the summer months, these nimble animals are often way up in the high-country, and much more difficult to observe and photograph. As we transition into winter, Bighorns descend from the upper elevations of the Greater Yellowstone landscape to fight and flirt for the next few months!!

Come and enjoy this amazing wildlife spectacle, the adventure begins at YellowstoneSafari.com

The Grizzly Who Turned a Generation onto Conservation…

Today, November 2nd, there will be memorial ceremony down in Grand Teton National Park to celebrate the legacy of 399.

We lost a true legend of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem yesterday, as the famed Grizzly Bear known as 399 was struck and killed by a car south of Jackson, WY.

399 was the most famous & most photographed Grizzly Bear ever, and the oldest known reproducing female in the GYE. Over the course of her life, it’s believed that she had at least 18 cubs.

A true superstar on this landscape, she served as an ambassador to her species, inspiring millions of people to care about the future of humans and Grizzlies sharing this landscape.

Our best tribute to 399 is to now extend that tutelage and passion to all Grizzlies, and to work diligently to continue to show the world the value and the wonder that these beautiful bears bestow on all of us. #399

The Wolves of Yellowstone National Park are undoubtedly the most-viewed wild Wolves on the planet, though most of our sightings come from the use of our high-powered optics!

Every now and then though, we get a brief moment with these iconic animals where no scopes or binoculars are needed!

Check out this EPIC, yet brief, encounter with a passing Wolf from one of our Yellowstone Wildlife Safaris!!

June offers A LOT of spectacular wildlife sightings around Yellowstone, and it’s one of the best months to see the bold and beautiful American Badger!

Badgers are members of the weasel family, and have an omnivorous diet, though they primarily consume small mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.

During the month of June, we often see these amazing diggers searching for food across the landscape, and we even sometimes witness them cooperatively hunting with Coyotes in the Park!!

There’s always something new to encounter on safari in Yellowstone, your adventure begins at YellowstoneSafari.com
