We also run widely respected courses/education for climbing and avalanche safety. We have been operating as a per

mitted climbing guide service since 1985. MAG guides rank in as some of the best in the Rockies with experience guiding from the Himalaya to the Rockies; the AK Range to Patagonia. Enjoying more big days on big ice in Cody’s South Fork of the Shoshone last week. We have had a lot of psyched climbers getting out with us in Cody this year. Come join us for a few days and even combo a trip with a few days in Hyalite for a Tour de Yellowstone.

MAG has a solid group of guides intimately familiar with the many folds of The South Fork & Cooke City ice. Now through mid March is a great time to visit.

Cody, WY ice climbing trips with MAG are in full swing for the season. Our ideal trip is 2 days on, one day off, then 2 days on for some great climbing and a full day to rest and check out Cody. Another great combo is 2 days in Hyalite then head to Cody. We are the only guide service permitted to operate in both locations.

The upcoming is organized by our friend and local legend . He has done well putting together a unique event to match the wild nature of The South Fork terrain. This year they have some great slide shows and of course MAG will have 4 of our lead guides on point to lead small groups.

Complete a Level 1 Avalanche Course in just two days while still spending the same amount of time in the snow as conventional 3-day courses. Save time & money and get the same quality education. Scholarships available. Inquiry for details.

Our course follows national guidelines regulated by the American Avalanche Association (A3); including our instructors’ credentials, material covered, duration, and classroom/field components. Our Level 1 Course is designed to provide students with the knowledge to confidently pursue backcountry ski terrain.

Classroom sessions – Online Learning at your own location and pace with a 1-2 hour Zoom review prior to your field days.

Field courses – Mountain Ranges near Bozeman & Big Sky. Field days for Cooke City based programs will be held in and around Cooke City. If possible we select two separate geographic locations to provide students with a much more comprehensive environmental classroom than visiting the same general location each day.

After completion of our L1 Course, you will receive a card from MAG that lists your name, dates of course, and instructors’ names. As a A3 recognized educator, your completion of our L1 course will be accepted by other avalanche educators if you wish to pursue your avalanche education to the Level 2, Pro 1, or Pro 2 levels.

Can you spot the climber? We love early season ice climbing as we can access climbs that become hazardous, much more difficult (or inaccesible) in just a few weeks.

If you have never climbed with us in East Hyalite, Cooke City, or Carter Mountain in Cody now is the time! Other fun objectives include moderate mixes and ice climbs to gain mountain tops. Inquire for details.
