Bozeman Horseback Riding MEDICINE LAKE OUTFITTERS offers guided horseback riding on over two hundred acres along the Gallatin River just minutes from Bozeman. By Reservation Only

MEDICINE LAKE OUTFITTERS offers guided horseback riding on two hundred acres along the Gallatin River just minutes from Bozeman. Our bridle trails pass through a Cottonwood Forest that is wildlife rich. The ride is paced at a leisurely walk. The trails cross the river onto large islands in several places. There are beautiful vistas of the Bridger Range, Hyalites and Spanish Peaks. Bald Eagles, Haw

ks, Sand hill Cranes, and a variety of Water Fowl and Song Birds live here in prolific numbers. Whitetail Deer, Moose, Coyote, Fox and River Otter are often seen. We offer instruction in horseback riding for those who need it. We do our best to match horse to rider according to the rider’s skill level. Generally our party size is from four to six riders. If you have at least four in your group we will be happy to book the ride for your party exclusively. You will want to bring a jacket, ball cap or wide brimmed hat with a stampede string, water bottle and sunglasses. Most folks also bring a camera. You should wear long pants and your heavier shoes or boots. We will provide saddle bags and a rain slicker. If you have rain gear you like please feel free to bring your own. We have hooded stirrups so western riding boots are not a requirement. Due to the inherent dangers associated with horseback riding we generally limit the age of our riders to no less than twelve years of age. As horses are physically limited in how much weight they can safely carry we have a rider weight limit of 230 pounds. For wildfire liability reasons and in consideration of our other guests we are strictly non-smoking on the entire premises. If you have a smoker in your group please consider booking with someone else.

When the mules that have worked for me for a lifetime reach the point where they can no longer go to the hills to do the hard work, I try to find a good retirement home for them. A place with good pasture, shelter and other equine company. I am particular with who I will give them away to. My good old mule Hercules went to a wonderful family in Nebraska. They have taken care of him for many years and were kind enough to send a picture I thought was worth sharing.
