In the heart of the Gulf of Mexico, where turquoise waters gently caress sugar-white sands, lies my cherished haven – Bean Point on Anna Maria Island, Florida. This pristine beach, with its unique charm and serene beauty, has become my ultimate escape and a balm for my soul.
Anna Maria Island, with its laid-back atmosphere and old Florida charm, has woven itself into the fabric of my happiest memories. Bean Point, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. Named after the first permanent resident of the island, George Emerson Bean, this beach radiates tranquility and offers a sanctuary from the hustle of the everyday world.
As I stroll along the shoreline, I'm accompanied by the rhythmic melody of waves lapping against the shore and the soft whisper of sea oats in the breeze. The air is tinged with the salty fragrance of the Gulf, mingling with the sweet scent of blooming sea grapes. This place, with its quietude, has the power to soothe my restless spirit.
The azure waters play host to a mesmerizing ballet of marine life. Dolphins gracefully break the surface, their sleek forms slicing through the waves as they navigate the warm Gulf waters. Sea birds, too, are an integral part of this coastal symphony. Great blue herons stand tall and regal, their patient eyes scanning the shallows for a potential meal. Royal terns and black skimmers skim the shore with effortless grace, their precision a marvel to behold.
Brown pelicans, feathered fishers of the Gulf, dive with precision, plunging into the water to emerge with a silvery prize. Ospreys, the Gulf Island's raptors, soar overhead, their keen eyes spotting fish beneath the surface. Piping plovers, Florida's original snowbirds, dash along the shoreline, their tiny frames a testament to resilience in the face of coastal challenges.
Snowy egrets, with their elegant white plumage, wade in the shallows, alternating between freshwater and saltwater hunting. Snowy plovers, delicate and dainty, leave delicate footprints in the sand as they scurry along the water's edge.
Bean Point, with its diverse cast of coastal characters, embodies the harmonious dance of nature. It's not just a beach; it's a canvas painted with the vibrant hues of Florida's coastal life. Every visit to this blissful stretch of sand reaffirms Anna Maria Island as my happy place, the chicken soup for my soul, where the ebb and flow of the tide soothes away the worries of the world, and the symphony of nature becomes the soundtrack to my serenity.

We fell in love with AMI after visiting in 2015 and didn't want to leave. While we live in the Hudson Valley in New York State, we try to come down as much as possible. We hope you love it as much as we do!
