Bridge Street Pier The Historic Bridge Street Pier has just gotten a beautiful facelift. Come see her iconic beauty in This allowed visitors to commute easily to the Island.

In 1921 the Original Cortez Bridge was built that connected Anna Maria Island with Cortez. It was a rickety wooden bridge linking the island to the mainland enabling Model T Ford's to begin rolling onto the island. It was replaced with a modern concrete structure in the late 1950’s an d transformed into a beautiful pier. You can still take a walk on the Western end of this historic landmark. About the same time a second bridge on Manatee Avenue was constructed.

You see anything different about our Beautiful Bridge Street? It’s not a trick question. NO TELEPHONE POLES!!! This would have never happened without the hard work of Ricinda Perry and Mayor John Chappie. They worked with the various agencies day and night for months and what an amazing job they did!!!!
