This house boasts many family-friendly spaces complete with a pool table and bunk room with a Lego table! This two level home has 5 Bedrooms, including a Lego/ Bunk room, and 3.5 Baths. Enjoy the open floor plan, fireplace, wall of windows, and deck looking over the lake, as well as the peace and quiet you would expect with a property at the end of the road, next to the woods, and on the lake. The yard contains a small apple orchard—late summer and early fall guests are welcome to pick and enjoy! Double oven and an extra full size fridge make cooking for a large group a breeze. A large island is perfect for cooking and gathering. There are plenty of place settings include drinking glasses, wine glasses, coffee mugs, kid-friendly dinnerware, pots and pans, cooking utensils, mixing bowls, baking dishes, pizza pan, cookie sheet, toaster, crockpots, Instapot, can opener, wine opener, measuring cups/spoons, and coffee maker. Indoor entertainment includes 4 smart TVs (family room, living room, and both of the king bed-only bedrooms). These TVs are equipped with Direct TV and Disney Plus. Feel free to bring passwords to other accounts such as Hulu or Netflix—just be sure to logout when you leave! The high speed internet access is perfect for streaming as well as that work meeting you just can’t miss. The basement family room features a pool table and dart board. The bunk room includes a well stocked Lego table for the kids and the kids at heart. We also have a large assortment of board games. Outdoors you will have a taste of MN wilderness. Fox, beavers, deer, and the occasional bear will visit the backyard. The lake is great for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Kayaks and a canoe are stored near the lake, while paddles and an assortment of life jackets are stored in the garage. Enjoy some s’mores around the bonfire after your day on the lake! The deck features a 6 person table and a gas grill. We do not refill the tank, so when it goes empty, please feel free to exchange the tank at a local gas station for around $25. Please refill the tank if you use the last of it! To make traveling a bit easier with young children, we have two pack-and-plays, a highchair, booster chairs, stools in the bathroom, and many toys (including Little People and Magformers). Guests also have access to a full sized washer and dryer. Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire house, yard, and attached garage with the exception of the locked owner’s closet/utility room. The three car attached garage has many yard toys and is available for parking. The detached garage is not accessible to guests. Other details to note:
During the summer, check-in and check-out are limited to Mondays and Thursdays due to cleaner's availability. Labor Day - Memorial Day is a 2 night minimum, check-in any day. If you cannot reserve the dates you would like, please ASK! I will do my best to make your dates work. Please note this house is in a quiet neighborhood. It is a private dirt road with a speed limit of 15mph. Please be respectful of our neighbors who are permanent residents. Grave lake is a private lake with no public boat launch. We have kayaks and a canoe for guest use. There is plenty of room to park your boat if you would like to explore nearby lakes. Nokay Lake is just across Hwy 18. Mille Lacs, Gull and Pelican Lakes are just a short drive away. House Rules:
- Quiet hours are 10pm to 8am. Please keep noise and music to a reasonable level during the day.
- Private road with a 15mph speed limit.
- No parties or events. This is NOT a party house.
- No smoking or va**ng. Inside or outside!
- No pets are allowed
- Remove shoes in house
- Keep food and drinks (other than water) out of bedrooms and away from the pool table.
- Due to the septic system ONLY natural waste and toilet paper may be flushed. All other "flushable" products should be placed in trash.
- Please park only on the cement driveway, not the grass or street. The attached garage is available for parking if you choose, open the garage door by going through the house and using wall mounted buttons.
- Shut the doors and ensure window screens are secure so as not to invite bugs or other pests.
- No candles due to fire hazard. Completely extinguish any bonfires to prevent a wildfire.
- Any repair concerns are to be promptly reported to the host, and access granted to perform necessary work. Thank you for respecting our property and neighbors! Please note - there are external cameras on the detached garage (monitoring front of the house) and the rear of the attached garage (monitoring back of the house)

The start of the new bedroom and the new locked closet for storage. Andy and his Uncle John have been hard at work this week!

It's an exciting week! Construction of the new bedroom stage #1. Construction of the new wall & shelves for the owners closet. First they had to clear the storage room. That was a big job!

They also need to remove the deck steps on garage side.

Stage #2 late October. Digging the egress window & moving the service door into garage. Service door and steps needed to move so you don't walk into the egress window pit.

Stage #3 Jan & Feb. Interior work - sheetrock, trim, painting, carpet. Also fixing the insulation situation in the joists.

This weekend was the *why* for Andy and I owning & renting our lake home. Spending time with friends and family fills my heart.

This week my parents were able to gather with all their kids and grandkids (and a bonus friend). We played games, biked, hiked, kayaked, ate delicious food, played pool, read and relaxed. It was the perfect end to summer. 11 of us start school next week and we move our oldest back to college tomorrow.

It took Andy and I nearly 2 years to find a home that worked for our group. We love to spend time with our family and friends. We also enjoy sharing it with others when we cannot be there.

ode Names is a favorite while we are there... its easy to teach and moves quickly. Your goal is to identify all of the other team's "spies" by giving one word clues. For example the blue team might say "Face, 2" for their teammates to guess mouth and eye.

I LOVE the fall leaves! I'm not ready for school and fall but it's coming. Fall at Shady Crest means apple picking. It's a small crop this year but they look great.

Just over two years ago we closed on this house. Andy, the kids, our parents and I spent much of July painting, cleaning, repairing, and doing laundry. The summer passed in the blink of an eye.

We have enjoyed our time there with family and friends. Our family is looking forward to spending time soon relaxing, swimming, and fishing with cousins.

When we can't be there we've been lucky to have amazing guests. I love hearing from guests about their trip and seeing occasional pictures of families and friends enjoying the space.

LIFE JACKETS ARE REQUIRED for anyone under 10 years of age unless docked or anchored. We have seen numerous examples of kids UNDER 3 without proper equipment on the water already this year. It doesn't matter what size boat you have or how good of a swimmer you are, IT IS REQUIRED!!! IT IS REQUIRED!!! IT IS REQUIRED!!!

Our Deputies do not want to pull a child out of the river while the parents stand there helpless having their lives destroyed. I don't want to talk to you on the phone while your child is somewhere underwater and there are no words to help you as we race to your location. Be safe, have fun, and know all the rules and regulations of recreational boating.

We have exciting news to share! In early 2025 we will be finishing off part of the storage room into a new bedroom. It will be ready for guests no later than May 2025. The new bedroom will have a king bed and two twins.

Please note: This will NOT increase our occupancy - our permit will still be capped at 16 people but will offer some more flexibility in sleeping spaces.

The dock went in this morning. The kids had a blast fishing for crappies off the shore and dock with grandpa and great Uncle John! The fish were biting like crazy and the rain gave them plentiful bait as there was worms and nightcrawlers all over. We even got the kayaks out for a quick trial.
