The Brainerd Jaycees and Brainerd Community Action teamed up the present the awards Friday, Jan. 17, at the Chalberg Theatre at Central Lakes College.

Minnesota is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 75 state parks and recreation areas on Monday, January 20. There is one fee-free day for each season of the year, giving Minnesotans a free of charge opportunity to experience the parks at different times of the year. In the Brainerd area, be sure to check out Crow Wing State Park, just a few miles south on Highway 371. This beautiful park is situated at the confluence of the Mississippi and Crow Wing Rivers!

It's also meant to showcase the locals’ tips and tricks for seeing all the community has to offer. Take a Kid Ice Fishing Weekend is January 18th-20th. During this three-day weekend, any Minnesota resident can go fishing for free if fishing with a child 15 years old or younger. Brainerd MN - Mount Ski Gull offers excellent downhill skiing, tubing, and snowboarding in the heart of the scenic Brainerd Lakes Area. The tubing hill is considered Minnesota’s largest at more than 1,200 feet; snow boarders enjoy an 800 foot dedicated terrain park with an ever changing array of jumps, lifts, rails, and more. They also have several runs for skiers of all experience levels and beginners can start out with a lesson on the newly enhanced bunny hill.
