So, this is some exciting NEWS!! We now make tri-colored fringe, 3 separate layers thick. For now, we'll have red metallic/silver metallic/blue metallic and we'll also be making red metallic/white/blue metallic in our standard size, 10 feet long by 14 inch drop. We planned to visit Fiesta San Antonio in 2020. Well, that didn't exactly work out so well. But we're scheduled to visit this year! Over the years, ParadeFloatStuff.com has had a wonderful relationship with the awesome folks at Valley Decorating. And when they decided to offer their fringe machinery to us, we couldn't pass up the golden opportunity.

We will be transitioning all our 15 inch drop fringe to the far more durable Valley Decorating 14 inch drop by 10 foot pieces. Seasoned float decorators know this is by far the most durable fringe on the market. And we're so very proud to offer it as part of our manufacturing line.

Some great friends in the next county north of us decided to participate in their local 4-H parade at the last minute. They had finished Vacation Bible School at their church and decided to use a train engine prop leftover.

The train engine was made from several nuggets found behind a neighboring farmer’s barn in a pile of scrap. They located a hay trailer, got some 30 inch drop silver fringe and some 8 inch and 5 inch letters and a few other things here and there and quickly created this neat little presentation.

And then, won First Place!!! Shortly afterward, the parade started and so did the rain. But it was all in good fun!

Many folks wonder how our company made it the last 15 months due to the pandemic shutdowns. I will readily confess, it was very hard. Maybe harder than anything I could have imagined.

We are people of faith in Jesus. We were found daily asking for His help and He never let us down. Why would He? He’s the same yesterday, today and tomorrow!!

Some folks said we should pivot to something else during the pandemic; that we should re-tool and come up with something that would be profitable. Honestly, there was nothing about the pandemic that I remotely wanted to profit from. The thought of it made me sick to my stomach. I just wanted my business back and I wanted life to be normal.

Folks said we needed to close to save lives. I never agreed with that notion and consistently asked, “what about our way of life?” I never meant to be insensitive about my question, but to see my 85 year old business destroyed by something completely out of my control was like a death to me and a death to the legacy of those before me. Maybe, it was more like another way of experiencing the loss of those before me too.

And I was just as concerned for others in our industry. Some competitiors are worth being concerned over; some are not. It’s a small industry and competition is tight but I never wanted to see any one of them go under this way.

We applied for every government handout available. I hated it. But had it not been for those handouts, even this free page would have been shut down long ago.

And so, you can’t imagine the incredible relief when our little business began to pick up a few weeks ago. We’re not at 100% yet and we’re chugging along. But it’s a HUGE answer to prayer. Because just a few weeks ago we were at the crux of making a very tough decision. Thankfully, at this point we don’t have to do that.

And, my wife and I eventually did pivot a few months ago. But not in a way that was initially suggested. We have a small place on the Gulf coast of the Florida panhandle. It’s not much, but it’s an easy place to retreat to when you can see your warehouse from your Indiana home; the warehouse where your business was going down the tube fast. I drove for some guys that did paving brick and Ettie put her time in at a local touristy grocer. The new grind kept our minds on something else and off the realization that things could forever change for us over the result of the obvious, along with the notion of our hope of ever retiring.

But in the last few weeks, at a time when the most difficult of decisions was about to made (because what was left of the bank account was at that undeniable point), something amazing began to happen. Places in our nation were coming back to life. And events re-emerged. And our little 85 year old business once again took on an uptick for the first time in many long months. Our bank account began to rebound a bit as new orders came in.

And we’ve quit our pivot jobs to head back to that little warehouse in Indiana.

For each of you that have placed orders in the last 30 days, leading up to the celebration of our nation’s founding…”THANK YOU” will never be more meaningful. You changed the inevitable course of this small enterprise and it’s fate. You have our gratitude. In ways bigger than you could imagine.

And the answer to that question many ask…how did we manage to make it through the pandemic. Well, that answer is above my pay grade. All I can say is, prayers were answered.
