11 Southeast Asian airlines have earned a spot among the top 100 in the 2024 World Airline Awards announced by Skytrax on Monday. The prestigious awards, often referred to as the ‘Oscars of the Aviation Industry’, were declared at a grand ceremony held at the Fairmont Windsor Park near London’s Heathrow Airport. For the eighth time in the 25-year history of the awards, Qatar Airways was named the World’s Best Airline. Singapore Airlines, last year’s winner, was a close second, and Emirates took third place. UK-based Skytrax noted that the votes were the closest run since the awards began, requiring a recount. AirAsia continued its dominance in the low-cost category, being crowned the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the fourteenth consecutive year. In the long-haul, low-cost category, Singapore’s Scoot emerged victorious. The survey, conducted from September 2023 to May 2024, involved over 21 million customers from 100 countries, evaluating more than 350 airlines.

We advise you to check the status of your flight before proceeding to the airport in Manila.
The prevailing weather condition and lighting alerts may result in possible flight delays or interruptions.
Airport authorities issue red lightning alerts when isolated thunderstorms occur in the vicinity of Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
A red lightning temporarily suspends all ground operations and aircraft movements at the airport, including boarding, disembarkation, aircraft parking, baggage handling and all support activities.
This is to ensure the safety of passengers but also of the workers at the airport.

Cancelled Flights Due to Eruption of Mt. Kanlaon

Due to the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Island on Monday evening, June 3, and subsequent presence of volcanic ash in the surrounding airspace, the following Cebu Pacific (CEB) flights are cancelled:
• 5J 461/462: Manila – Iloilo – Manila
• 5J 463/464: Manila – Iloilo – Manila
• 5J 465/466: Manila – Iloilo – Manila
• 5J 475/476: Manila – Bacolod – Manila
• DG 6460/6461: Cebu – Bacolod – Cebu
• 5J 2590: Davao – Bacolod
• 5J 480: Bacolod – Manila
Affected passengers have been informed via email and provided with the following options through the Manage Booking portal on the Cebu Pacific website https://www.cebupacificair.com/manage-booking
1. Free Rebooking
Rebook without fare difference for travel up to thirty (30) days from original flight date. The fare difference will apply if the travel period is beyond thirty (30) days from the original flight date.
2. Travel Fund
Store the amount in a virtual CEB wallet and use this to either book a new flight or pay for add-ons (example: baggage allowance, seat selection, etc.)
3. Refund
Full refund of your ticket.
CEB is also offering flexible options, which include free rebooking and travel fund, to passengers who wish to postpone their flights to Bacolod and Iloilo on June 4. They may avail themselves of their preferred option online up to two (2) hours before their scheduled time of departure.
The safety of our passengers and crew is our priority and we are monitoring the situation closely. As this is a developing situation, some flight changes may take place in the coming days.
