Our FINAL dino feature is ending with a bang! Introducing the Tyrannosaurus Rex (aka T-Rex) 🦖

You may have heard of these ferocious meat-eating dinos before. The T-Rex was the smartest and most powerful of all giant dinosaurs. It even had the most powerful bite of any animal ever. The T-Rex had 50 sharp teeth the size of bananas. It could chomp 500 pounds of dinosaur meat all in one bit! Not only were these giants physically powerful, they were mentally strong as well. They had the largest brain of any dinosaur, which is equal to the size of a human brain. 🧠

You will have to check out our life sized T-Rex at Prehistoric Park! You definitely will not regret it.

Our next dino feature in the series is the intense Kosmoceratops!

Though these dinosaurs look intimidating, they were only half the size of the Triceratops (the largest horned dinosaur). However, the Kosmoceratops had the fanciest head decorations of any dinosaur and could even have up to 15 horns on its head as a full grown adult. These horned dinosaurs were plant eaters and were mostly found in Western North America during the Late Cretaceous period.

Learn more about this horned giant at our dinosaur park in Louisiana.

This long-necked dinosaur with a tail club lived during the Middle Jurassic period, 175 million years ago! Scientists believe the small but solid weapon found at the end of its tail might have been swung to cause serious damage to predatory dinosaurs. These friendly giants were plant-eaters and could grow up to 46 feet long!

The ferocious Dimetrodon is next up for our dino features!

These meat-eating creatures came from both the mammal and dinosaur family. Though some consider it a dinosaur, it is built more like a modern reptile with bent legs. The size of the large sail on it's back is still a mystery to this day, but some believed it was used to help give off heat from the animal since it lived during a hot time for the Earth. Others believe it was simply a display to show off to mates or scare rivals. What do you think this large sail was used for?

Check out our next dino feature...the Parasaurolophus!! (Now that is a tongue twister)

These dinosaurs have one of the fanciest crests of any duck-billed dinosaur. It could blow low notes through its bony trumpet just as an elephant does today. Long ago, some scientists thought Parasaurolophus lived in the water and even used their horn as a snorkel. Living in Western North America, 65 million years ago, these gentle plant-eaters were such a unique species. 🤩

Join us at Prehistoric Park to meet our very own Parasaurolophus!

The Pachycephalosaurus is next up on for our dino features!

This dinosaur was the largest dome-headed creature of it's time. It's name, Pachycephalosaurus, literally means "thick-headed" reptile. Scientists believed they used their thick skulls to butt each other as rams do today with their horns.

Starting off the New Year with our next dino feature, the Dilophosaurus!

The term, Dilophosaurus, means "two-crested reptile." Take one look at the decorations on its head and you'll know why. These creatures roamed the Earth during the Early Jurassic period, 200 million years ago in Western North America and China. They are famously called little, poisonous "spitters" from the Jurassic Park movie. However, in real life Dilophosaurus did not spit. These meat-eating dinosaurs were the first to reach 20 feet in length too! How cool!

Come visit our new dino friends at Prehistoric Park to start your New Year off right. 🦕
