Happy 4th Birthday Skit!!!!

We cannot believe It has been 4 year since her family was rescued and Skit was born at HYH. Today Skit went to see Dr. Muller to gives him some special cookies she had made for him, to help celebratete her big day!

Skit would not be here today if it was not for

have been done by Dr. Muller.
Becasue of him, she can walk and actually trot without pain. Skit was not expected to survive her first birthday, and today we celebrate her fourth! She is our little fighter.

Well…… Today did not go as planned, so I think we might have to do two separate posts.

Today Skit went to see her favorite Vet, Dr. Muller & Naydeene Los Caballos Equine Practice, Inc., to celebrate her 4th birthday….
Instead of the birthday shenanigans, she was promised, during her checkup it was discovered that she was once again having G.I. problems. So immediately she was tubed and given oil and Banamine.

Poor Skit, is not happy at all and i cannot even blame her! We were NOT prepared for this. It seems Skit is still G.I.. problems since she was last in ICU at Davis in december.
Dr.Muller feels at this point now, it will probably continue to happen. We will try to take all the precautions we can for Skit. Today was a reminder, that it is day to day with Skit. Every day she is here, is a blessing that she shares with us and the world. ❤️

I’m NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!! 😕😕😕😕😕😕😕😕
Nana made me take a bath today, for my big day tomorrow!!!! 😡 Nana is NOT nice! 😛
I told her NOOOOOO, so she roped Auntie Lisa Walczak-Yano to help hold me, while Nana scrubbed me down! I need to file charges of “Skittles abuse” on my Nana, and my Auntie for not listening to me!

Thank you Dr. Muller and Los Caballos Equine Practice, Inc.!!!!
Skit had to have another procedure and her future bodyguard Qaletahkah went with her. This was Qaletahkah’s first trip to the hospital and escorting her. She did great!
Skit did great and feels so much better now! ❤️ Qaletahkah hid for a moment when Skit was sedated and knocked out, it made her a little nervous but she settled down.

She has a baby bunny!!! 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰This little guy was with her this morning when we came out to feed! Yes, I put it back! I had to pick it up, because the puppies were running over by her! It’s safe and ran back to its little home! ❤️

Skit has been climbing the walls in boredom, while she has been recovering!
We got to take her out and do short little visits to cheer her up!
So off she went to one of her favorite supporters Dover Saddlery - Moraga, CA
Charlie the elf decided since he had been missing her, he wanted to go with her too!
She pranced all the way to her trailer this morning! Skit is definitely feeling better!

Baby Skittles update 12/17

Skit’s regular Veterinarian Dr.Muller, spoke with UC Davis. Our concerns after seeing Skit, was how depressed she was. Skit has never been alone before, even with her surgeries with Dr. Muller, he allowed her mother Meesha to stay with her at Los Caballos Equine Practice, Inc.during recoveries. That is also the only time she has been away from her home or her entire (mini horse), family, who take care of and protect her.

With her being depressed, he felt she needed to be brought home immediately and treatments continued at home for her.

While she was in ICU, her mother was so stressed she started to colic. Skit also still nurses from her mother, which we all feel is needed for her and can only help this little girl, Skit is very bonded to her mother. It seems they all know how special she is and look after her.

U.C. Davis and their staff took excellent care of our little girl while she was there. She had to have X-rays, ultra sounds, blood tests, and a belly tap done, along with with iv’s and tubing a few times. We are so grateful for their amazing and gentle care they took on our girl. We are truly blessed to have Dr. Muller and his staff take such amazing care of Skit and to be her Vet and her voice, he has known her since birth and knew what she needed to recover.

Skit and her mother are slowly getting better. They are being fed a very soft mash diet multiple times a day, along with probiotics, electrolytes and more. Skit cannot be walked much as you would for a normal horse. Her little legs can only walk so much and many treatments that wouod be done for a horse with colic are either risky or cannot be done because she is so very tiny.

Skit ran up her ramp to load home on her own, and when we went to unload her she actually jumped out onto the ramp, ran down and ran screaming all the way to her momma. That was exactly what our little girl needed! For Skit to act like a normal horse means she is depressed! She is a little girl who likes to talk a lot, full of attitude and pep! She always has something to say!
She is back talking again and slowly getting better. Thank you for all the prayers! Skit and her mother definitely need them! we are not out of the woods yet! ❤️

She has brought so much happiness and love to others in need, she needs the help and love now to survive this.
Please keep her in your prayers and if you can donate to HYh to help her bills that are adding up. Without support we cannot get her the help she needs. 💔
