Oh Whale season is coming back to the Cape soon, but for now check this out.

It may not be whale season here, but it is toward the Caribbean! So what do whale-obsessed naturalists in the north do in the off-season? Follow the whales, of course! Over the next two weeks, several of our naturalists are spending their vacations tracking down humpback whales on the breeding grounds, teaming up with fellow naturalists from Cape Cod to Gloucester! 🌊 🐋

Did you know that Cape Cod is home to the world’s only confirmed pirate shipwreck?

In 1717, the Whydah Gally, commanded by the notorious pirate Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy, sank off the coast of Wellfleet during a fierce storm. This legendary ship carried over 4.5 tons of treasure—gold, silver, and riches from more than 50 plundered ships.

⚓ Fact or Fiction? Many myths surround the Whydah. Some say Black Sam Bellamy survived the wreck and lived in secrecy. Others believe part of the treasure is still buried along the Cape Cod shores.
What we do know is that in 1984, marine explorer Barry Clifford discovered the wreck, confirming its place in history. The Whydah is now the only authenticated pirate shipwreck ever found!

🏴‍☠️ Visit the Treasure! Today, you can see real pirate artifacts—including gold coins, weapons, and even the ship’s bell—at the Whydah Pirate Museum in Yarmouth. A must-visit for history buffs and adventure seekers!

“I went on a ‘quick’ walk… and somehow ended up needing a nap.” 😂

Spring at Wish Me Luck Cottage is basically a choose-your-own-adventure story:

🥾 Hike the Eddy Trail—just a half-mile to the top (stunning bay views included) and a half-mile back. Easy, breathtaking, and close enough to be back at the cottage for a snack in no time. My kind of workout. 😆

🌸 Walk along the beach as the tide rolls out. It’s peaceful, it’s stunning, and let’s be honest—it’s the perfect excuse to reflect on life.
