The convenience store only a few miles from the cottage on Rt. 12 is now reopened after their devastating accident/fire! Whoop whoop!! Excellent resource for last-minute or forgotten items. I highly recommend them!

I have the best friends!!! Randy Beckstead and family split and stacked all of this. We will spend hundreds of hours enjoying fellowship and the views around campfires at Prenell Place Cottage as a result. I am so incredibly grateful!!!!

The new electrical service has been installed and the water is being turned on today!!!!!! The cottage will be open for me to get it ready for you. I am so excited!!! It’s almost River Time!!!!!!

What a glorious day!! Got the driveway cleaned up and just sat in the sun on the deck for a while. It was beautiful but not very peaceful! And? My first vessel of the year!!!

Checked on the cottage today. An overcast day, but there’s always beauty on the river. No damage from the wind storm. Most of the snow is gone and there’s no ice on the river. The water level is still low.

Ladies and Gentleman, it's always a sad day to report that the cottage is completely winterized and put away for another year, but at the same time it's a relief. Temperatures dropped significantly and quickly this week, and the contractor responded as soon as he could and has reported that the water is shut off, all lines are drained, antifreeze has been added where needed and the swim ladders are stored for the winter. I am eternally grateful for you, because without you this dream would have not been fulfilled. This was an incredible summer of accomplishments, 'family' that returned home, and memories made with the ones we love. Next year will be even better! If you were there early in the season you'll be in for an incredible surprise next year! Even if you were there for the dock, the deck is now complete and open for business! I am working on another plan...and I may possibly have a boat available to rent for anyone who holds a Boating Safety Certificate as required. Stay tuned--I'm working on it! Winter well, my friends. Thank you for continuing to trust me and returning to Prenell Place Cottage! I will post pictures as I check on our favorite place throughout the winter.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is now complete!!!!!!! It has been a dream since I bought the cottage, and it’s taken 3 years to see it to completion, but it’s done, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!! We now not only have a 32’ dock, but a 20’ deck as well to sit and enjoy the scenery!!! YAY!!!!!!!

Another option when you're staying at the cottage. Clayton is a wonderful community, with loads of excellent restaurants, the Antique Boat Museum, art galleries, the Clayton Opera House as well as Clayton Island Tours. I love doing a Coyote Moon Wine Cruise with them!

Announcing the newest experience in the 1000 Islands, Clayton NY! Our Grindstone Island Winery & Heritage Tour will begin on Wednesday, July 5th at 1:30pm. This 4.5 hour tour is the first known regularly scheduled tour open to the public and will provide an exclusive glimpse into life on Grindstone Island. Clayton Island Tours will provide a 30 minute narrated tour across the St. Lawrence Seaway to Grindstone Islands Upper Town Landing. From there the Grindstone Island Winery will provide transportation in the form of Grindstone style (rustic) truck or van for a tour of the interior of the island. You will travel; past the Upper School House (one of the last operating one room schoolhouses in New York State,) get a glimpse of the old cheese factory and view farm lands with grazing cows and majestic oak forests along the way. Stop at the Lower Schoolhouse Heritage Museum and learn the rich history of the island and then on to the Grindstone Island Winery, a small vineyard that grows & produces 10 vintages on-site. Wine flights, ice cold slushies, craft beer, non-alcoholic beverages, charcuterie boards & cheese boards are all available for purchase.

Clayton Island Tours will pick you up at the upper town landing for a 30 minute narrated tour returning to the mainland.

4.5 hour tour / Adults $62.00 / Children 5-12 $37.00 / Children 4 and under not allowed.

This tour may not be recommended for guests with physical limitations. Difficulty level: Moderate to Difficult. May involve varying amounts of activity (long walks, rough, uneven, or steep terrain, in/out of vehicles/boats.)

Comfortable, sturdy shoes are recommended.

Adults 13+ and Children 5-12. Children under 5 or any child requiring a car seat may not attend this tour.

Good evening! I just wanted to let you know that the summer of 2024 is filling quickly! I only have one week left in July (6-13) and 2 weeks in August (17-24 and 24-31). If you are planning/thinking of returning next year, PLEASE get in touch with me sooner than later. I don't want anyone disappointed! I am thrilled that you have made Prenell Place Cottage your 'home away from home on the river!'

With the new dock: If you are bringing or renting a boat, I will now be charging $2 per foot for dockage. Please let me know if you are going to be utilizing that option now!
