On The Rivers Fly Fishing Company is owned and operated by Julie Mattson. Julie was born and raised in Montana were she started her adventure in fly fishing. At 10-years-old she received a fly tying kit for Christmas. After catching a fish on a fly she tied, she never looked back.
During her 20+ year career, she was a guide/outfitter in Southeast Alaska for over 13 years. She returns on occasion when requested by guests. After her time in Alaska, she returned to Montana to guide on her home waters including Upper Madison River and some private waters during the fare weather months. During the winter months she guided ice fishing on the fly.
After visiting Oklahoma and Arkansas waters through the years, Julie has settled in the Broken Bow area. She lives in Hochatown, OK, just minutes from the Lower Mountain Fork River were she guides full time, year around.
During her career she has taught many 101 , advance casting, and fly fishing schools. She has operated fly fishing shops and commercially tied flies. To this day she will do custom fly orders. She holds a PFF certification as a casting instructor. You may have even seen her on a couple of different TV shows about fly fishing!
