Sam Rayburn
GOOD. Water stained; 83 degrees; 4.27 feet above pool. The bite for all species seems to improve when the water is being generated. This stirs the water, breaking up the thermocline. Bass are slow in shallow water with many smaller fish being caught on frogs, and spinnerbaits. Deeper bass bite is fair with Carolina rigs. Crappie are slow in the morning, but improve midday. Catfish are all over the lake in 20 feet of water and in 12 feet of water in the creek channels. White bass are on points in the south end of the lake near the dam. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service. As the lake continues to drop fish are going to be moving to traditional summer locations pending the thermocline depth. Bass are good early morning on shallow main lake points with medium or deep diving crankbaits, and topwaters. Main lake ledges with Carolina rig shaky head and spoons. Brush piles shallower than the thermocline with Texas rigs, jigs or Carolina rigs. The thermocline is actively fluctuating and will continue to do so while lake level changes. Navigate with caution watching for floating debris, trees, and stumps. Report by Hank Harrison, Double H Precision Fishing.

Update!!

JUST IN | HURRICANE BERYL shifts north, and the cone of concern now includes all of Southeast Texas and parts of Louisiana as the storm could turn in our direction after landfall, bringing a lot of moisture. Current projected landfall is between Corpus and Brownsville but that landfall marker has continued to shift north and ABC13-Travis Herzog suspects it could be Matagorda Bay. Next update will come at 4pm.

Twas 2 days before Christmas, with bad weather reports, and the folks of South Texas were out wearing shorts. Rushing to The Dollar Store for some milk and tators, and maybe some candles in case of tornadoes. While many are dreaming a Christmas of white, I'm wondering if I'll need my A/C on tonight. Before you start thinking my cheer sounds too wreckless , I'm just saying Merry Christmas from SouthEast Texas!! 😊🎄❄️🎉

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY BURN BAN EFFECTIVE 12 NOON TODAY JULY 25TH 2023.
The entire County of San Augustine is now listed as ” Extreme” Fire Danger, due to lack of rainfall, continuous high temperatures, and winds, making the potential of wildfires very favorable.
Absolutely all outside burning and / or Fires is prohibited. I did include an ok for outdoor grilling as long as the grill is enclosed with a lid. No burn barrels or fire pits. Remember to totally extinguish coals and ashes from grills. Many Counties are prohibiting grilling, but hopefully we will be very careful and be able to continue.
This Burn Ban is in place for 90 days or until conditions improve enough for it to be lifted.
We are again the last County to put one in place, because I dislike having to put a common sense order in place. SA County has done a great job in this matter, and I do thank everyone. I will lift it as soon as possible.
Thank you for your trust, patience, and understanding.
Take care and God bless,
Jeff Boyd
San Augustine County Judge
