ALASKA, 2021 IS OPEN!!!
Many major cruise lines will be sailing Alaska this summer. If a cruise line is registered in a foreign country (which most are), the U.S. requires the ship to sail to at least one foreign port. With Canada's border still being closed, the cruise lines needed the U.S. government to rescind that ruling, which it temporarily has. Bon Voyage!

Get excited! It looks like July!!
It appears that the CDC has finally given in to the pressure of the law suits filed by Alaska & Florida & the many petitions made by the public to their state officials. If you were one who filled out the form & sent it to your Congress person & Senators, THANK YOU! If a plane can fly with people sitting in very close proximity to each other, cruise line should be able to sail.
For those that have yearned for the sea and exotic ports of call, this news is long in coming & very welcomed. Cruise ships should be able to sail from U.S. ports again in July,
Personally, I can't wait to set sail!

NCLH cruise lines extend cancelations through May

Norwegian Cruise Line and its sister brands have extended suspension of operations by another month to 31 May 2021.

It impacts nearly all sailings of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

NCLH said guests booked on these canceled voyages should contact their travel advisor or the cruise line for further information.

Guests may receive a full refund although terms differ for the three cruise brands.

NCLH had previously canceled all cruises through 30 April.

NCL has stopped short of cancelling its 2021 Alaska season but has stopped taking any new reservations.

Despite the ban on cruises through Canadian waters until 2022, NCL is 'currently exploring several initiatives that may allow such cruises to continue.'

"We are working through all available options as quickly as possible, and given the fluidity of the current environment, we will also continue to work with the Canadian government to amend the current suspension.

Holland America, Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises cancel US cruises into late spring

Princess Cruises has announced it will cancel all cruises from U.S. ports through May 14 — more than a year after the industry came to a standstill in the middle of March last year.

Holland America Line has also canceled all of its departures through April 30 as it prepares to meet the CDC's guidelines, according to a statement provided by Roger Frizzell, Carnival Corp. spokesperson.

"The line also will cancel all Alaska cruises through mid-May, Alaska departures on three ships through early June, any Land+Sea Journeys connected with canceled Alaska sailings, Mediterranean cruises through early June and Zaandam’s Canada/New England itineraries through August," Holland America said in the statement.

Carnival Cruise Line also announced an extension to its sailing suspension, canceling cruises scheduled through March 31 in U.S. waters.

Royal Caribbean has announced that Empress of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas will be leaving their fleet. These ships have brought wonderful memories to thousands of people since the early nineties.

It was announced yesterday that this Cruise to Nowhere came back a day early because one passenger tested positive for Covid. The one passenger has now tested negative for Covid 19.

The passenger was aboard Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas that set sail on Dec. 7 for a round trip to the city-state with no port of call in between.

8+ NIGHT UPDATE

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued a Framework for Conditional Sailing Order that introduces a phased approach for a safe return of cruising. In the order, the CDC outlines that cruise lines are no longer able to sail itineraries that are longer than 7 nights and call on a U.S. port. This affects sailings between Jan. 1 and Nov. 1, 2021.
