Downtown Bryan’s newest murals were unveiled today in Art Alley between Rx Pizza & Bar & The Frame Gallery Downtown 🎨
This art installation is part of a project called Art For Life — a collaboration between Purple Turtle Art Studio & the Brazos County Juvenile Services Department. The project provides at-risk youth in our community an opportunity for a creative outlet & empowerment via public art works.
These are the first of several new murals coming soon to Historic Downtown Bryan thanks to grant funding provided by City of Bryan - Government.

Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to bring high winds and heavy rain to the Brazos Valley on Monday, July 8.

Construction Commences on Reopening Historic Chicken Oil Company After 2022 Fire
[Bryan, TX] – After a hiatus of two years due to a fire, the iconic Chicken Oil Company is gearing up to reclaim its place in the hearts of the community. With the start of construction on Monday, crews are diligently working to resurrect this beloved establishment to its former glory.
The fire, which affected the kitchen and back of house areas in 2022, dealt a significant blow to Chicken Oil Company, leaving many loyal patrons disheartened. However, the resolve to rebuild and restore this cornerstone of our community has never been stronger.
Despite the damage, the dining area of Chicken Oil Company will maintain the timeless charm of the fireplace and the distinctive seating arrangements on each level, preserving the unique ambiance that has made Chicken Oil Company a cherished gathering spot for generations.
Demolition of the affected sections of the building started on Monday. The removal of the damaged structures marks a crucial step towards the revitalization of Chicken Oil Company, signaling a new chapter in its storied history.
"We understand the impact Chicken Oil Company has had on our community over the years," said Adam Drake Marketing Director of Chicken Oil Company. "Our commitment to preserving its heritage while ushering in a new era is exciting. We are immensely grateful for the outpouring of support from our patrons and the community as we officially embark on this journey of renewal."

The Brazos Valley African American Museum was built on the site of one of the original Black schools in Bryan, Texas. It was the brain child of retired educator, Mrs. Mell Pruitt, and is the first establishment of its kind to promote the history of African American citizens in the Brazos Valley.
