Reason # 1,000,000 to visit Bryson City!

From the photographer last night: “Hiking up to Kuwohi (formerly Clingmans Dome) in the Great Smoky Mountains to capture the aurora tonight was once again an incredible experience. At the summit, we were rewarded with sweeping views over the mountain layers. But when the aurora lit up the sky, its colors and pillars danced above the peaks, casting a surreal glow.

The renaming to Kuwohi, in honor of the Cherokee heritage, adds a deeper sense of connection to the mountain’s natural and cultural significance especially under an Aurora lit sky.”

Bryson City & Cherokee NC 10/3 Update: Grocery stores have been restocked, Gas stations refueled, most GSM National Park areas in our area and to the west are reopened, cell & internet services restored, major hwy's and roads are open including Newfound Gap Rd/441 to Gatlinburg, GSM Railroad is running & downtown Bryson City & Cherokee are open for business! There are several routes that can safely be taken in and out of our area.

We look forward to hosting our guests and helping our neighbors to the west!

Visitors: We recommend bringing non-perishable groceries with you still and filling up on gas before entering the immediate area. This will assist in the area catching up to pre-storm levels.♡
