The BV biking trails are ready to roll! I rode up and down A Few More Dollars, Fistful of Dollars, out and back on Camp Elevation, Sausage Link and the short Bacon Strip loop. The evening ride was a bit soft but super grippy and the morning ride after a dusting of snow was spectacular. There is a little bit of snow on some parts of the trail but these are short sections and easily rideable.

If you're like I used to be and are not sure how to keep your feet warm at 20 degrees, the technique I use is a pair of my favorite mid-weight wool hiking socks, a pair of the 5 hour chemical heat foot warmers stuck to the front of the insole in my summer biking shoes covered by a pair of winter/fall riding shoe covers. This works awesome and when it gets warmer later in the day you just stick the covers in your hydration pack.

The Bacon Strip loop isn't yet appearing on the trail apps I use but its right off of the upper trailhead parking lot near the port-a-potty with the other end dropping out onto the road at the upper entrance to Django.

Some fun places around Buena Vista include Monarch Ski Resort, Copper Mountain Ski Area, Ski Cooper, Monarch Crest, St. Elmo, Cottonwood Lake and hot springs, and many others. There's plenty of 14ers to hike and if you're coming in for backcountry skiing, there's a lot for you to ski, just remember to stay safe and have the right safety gear
