Ambassadors on the Move:
Buffalo Timber Bay

The Ambassador group met with Ben and Leah of Timber Bay, at Ben's home. Timber Bay is a Christian organization that has been in Buffalo for nearly 30 years, serving middle school and high school at risk kids. They used to have their own location for many years, but the last 6 years have been meeting at the Covenant Church, Buffalo Evangelical Free Church or Ben's home with some smaller groups.

They serve the kids through weekly large group times (always looking for volunteers to serve meals - businesses or personally - in the summer maybe just grill hotdogs), through Timber Bay camp 6 to 8 times a year, or through one on one or small group scenarios, such as working on the truck seen in the photo below. Kids - guys and gals alike - feel great pride in working on and completing a project. This truck is a 1978 Chevy Scottsdale C-10. In the end, they hope someone will buy the truck and they can purchase another vehicle and start all over again.

The goal is to build relationships and be a mentor and simply show that they are loved. The staff like Ben and Leah, and volunteers there, are adults helping struggling kids do life. They can always use volunteer help - you must believe in the Timber Bay vision and again -simply show love to these kids.

The kids they serve are referred to them through the schools, law enforcement, churches, mental health resources or word of mouth - as kids bring other kids.

UPDATE ON PARADE: The decision has been made that the parade will be delayed one half hour, starting at 6:30pm. At this time all units and The HERD Marching Band and all 7 marching bands along with Buffalo Royal Ambassadors and visiting royalty will be there for your delight. Kids be ready for candy!!!

The Hungry Draft Food Trailer and Food Court is open, go and grab a warm lunch/snack!

All rides are up and running thanks to inspector Bill Husom for making an extra trip out! It"s a beautiful night to get out and enjoy everything Buffalo! Beer garden...food court...rides...fireworks! Top 10 summer day!

With the forecast tomorrow, many people have been questioning the status of the parade. The parade will go on rain or shine, unless there is lightening. If a call were to be made it would be made well into the afternoon, as we all know that what weather is at noon can be very different than what it is at 6:00. Watch your emails if you are a unit in the parade and watch this page for any updates. We will plan to move forward in hopes that the hit or miss rains tomorrow will be a miss on Buffalo!

Be sure to get out today and enjoy the food court downtown. You will find The Hungry Draft Food Trailer, Bobick Concessions, Tropical Sno, Hoppers Mini Donuts, the famous gyros and the delicious seafood all waiting you today and tomorrow. The local Scouts are popping up popcorn as well! These vendors give back to the event so patron them and thank them!

The carnival is here and set up! This is just a sneak peak of somethings there. It will be ready for riders tomorrow at 1pm. If you haven't gotten your advanced tickets they will be on sale at the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau and Cubfoods until 1.

Carnival hours are Thurs 1-9, Fri & Sat 12-10, Sun. 12-4.

We all know and love our local 9 hole course, that in my opinion, never gets enough creds! Buffalo Heights is a family friendly, beautifully landscaped, hometown course with a club house/restaurant that has been an iconic green space for Buffalo for over 90 years!

Buffalo Heights is a private course, owned by shareholders and open to the public. Manager and longtime fan and employee of the course Hal Clifton shared his passion for the course with our Ambassadors. The Clifton family has always been involved - he remembers mowing the greens by hand and having his grad party in the old clubhouse. His parents managed the course back in the 60's and I even worked for them in the restaurant in the 80's. My boys grew up on this course. It's not an easy play, with hills and water, but it lends itself well to walking. Of course, we all know and love the sliding hill in the winter!

Buffalo Heights hosts men's league on Tuesdays, ladies league on Wednesdays, couples league on Thursdays and hosts several youth clinics through community ed and Jr. PGA tourneys throughout the summer. They currently employ 7 staff.

We encourage you to get out and try a round! You will thoroughly enjoy the mature trees and sheer beauty of the course. The rates are reasonable with 9 holes and a cart being $34 on weekdays and $58 on weekends. You can have a meal and make a full day of it for under $100. They lease the upstairs space out to Heights Bar and Grill, so you can enjoy a meal in the restaurant or on the deck. They also serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.

We want to thank Buffalo Heights for allowing us to use three of their golf carts this Saturday as we stage and work the parade! It's always fun to drive them back through town before sunset!
