the Broccoli Bar Bulletin
WOW! Fellow Broccoli-heads, we are so incredibly thankful for your support since we opened our doors 10/10/2020 in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. The past few months have been a dream come true, amidst a never seen before climate. Roller coaster ride! We have some exciting updates to share with you all- you're receiving this email because you have dined with us recently, and therefore have access to new announcements first. Thank you so much for being part of the Broccoli Bar!
New Menu launching 12/28!
Our new menu includes beloved favorites, and new additions inspired by, and named after, artists with Brooklyn connections that we love. We've got a feel-good wrap inspired by "the queen of neo-soul", and a sandwich filled with flavor bombs inspired by one of the most viral artists right now. Stay tuned!
New Hours!
To serve you better, we are adjusting our hours. Starting Monday 12/28, we will be open 11am-7pm. This means an earlier lunch (or breakfast, hey we're not judging). Someday we hope to swing Broccoli at 2am in the mornings like we've done at music festivals...!
Celebration Menu: Pu Pu Platter for 2
2020 was elfed up. We are ringing in 2021 with a bang, and that means a platter of food filled with indulgence, comfort, and pure joy. Jeremiah will be cooking up a feast for you all; inspired by Chinese take out and Broccoli with a modern twist. Don't snooze on this one- place your order by 12/27 for pick up on 12/31 10am-4pm.
Let's talk about to go containers. We are a mission driven company, and have an unwavering commitment to doing things vegan. But we also recognize that it takes a multitude of actions to be a force for good, especially in combating climate change. While compostable to go containers are wonderful when disposed of properly, NYC does not have the infrastructure in place yet to support individuals in accessing industrial composting facilities. Instead, almost all compostable to go containers end up in landfill. At best compostable to go containers (as well as food) in landfill don't decompose and simply take up space, at worst they decompose and release methane (a greenhouse gas, roughly 23 times more potent that carbon dioxide). Methane from landfills is the third largest human made contributor to methane emissions. Composts on the other hand allows organics like food and compostable containers to decompose properly, carbon-neutral.
When you're dining in (hopefully in the near future), we will happily collect your compostable bowls and send them to a industrial composting facility. When ordering take out, we will pack your food in recycable containers and kindly (but firmly) urge you to clean, reduce and recycle them.
Lastly, as 2020 wraps up, we are beyond excited to plan for a slamming 2021! Live music dance parties, food cart pop ups, and of course a bounty of Broccoli. But until then, please enjoy this absolutely legendary and totally ridiculous experience we are jiving to right now:
Happy Holidays!
Peace, love & broccoli
