We at the Baynes Family Farm believe in the three R’s…Relax, Reflect and Revive. As the name epitomizes, the Baynes Family Farm (BFF) is all about FAMILY which to us includes relatives, friends, coworkers, social groups…our community. The Baynes Family Farm is located on over 90 acres of beautiful farm land in Burlington, NC; a farm on which Percy Baynes was born 81 years ago. His grandfather, Geo
rge Baynes, purchased the land over 100 years ago, and it has been in the Baynes family ever since. Percy always wanted to do something special with the land that he grew up on so that is where his kids came in. The Baynes kids (Anita Ellis, Percival Baynes, Steve Baynes and Karen Baynes-Dunning) came together with the guidance from their parents, Percy and Dorothy Baynes, to formulate the Baynes Family Farm, LLC in order to build that something special…something that epitomized FAMILY. The vision of a tranquil place where families, friends, colleagues, groups, etc. could reconnect became a reality in April 2014 when the 3600+ square foot log cabin was completed. The cabin, which sleeps 16 people, consists of 4 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, a great room, fully equipped kitchen, 2 gas fireplaces and a wraparound porch that provides an extensive amount of outdoor living space. In addition, to the cabin there is a large pavilion with picnic tables, 2 fully stocked ponds (fishing rods included), a 2.5 mile hiking trail, a fire pit and some of the best sunrises and sunsets you will ever see. Plus the stars are so bright that you feel you can reach up and touch them. Because the farm is located less than an hour away from the Research Triangle Park near Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, and only a few hours from Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad Area, we feel that the BFF is a perfect place for family reunions, weddings, corporate retreats, military veteran organizations, spiritual retreats, youth groups, birthdays, getaways and any other reasons you can think of to Relax, Reflect and Revive. But we are not done…as a family of educators and child welfare professionals we are also very passionate about providing opportunities for underprivileged children to experience nature in its truest sense and have FUN doing it! Therefore, we are in the process of formulating a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that will encourage young people to get outside and have FUN at the BFF. So we will be reaching out to child welfare agencies and various youth groups to form partnerships to expose young people to the great outdoors! Ultimately, we would like to host a full summer camp experience for underprivileged children including swimming, canoeing, fishing, archery, arts and crafts, team sports, hiking, horseback riding, and the old staple…campfires and camp songs! The main objective will be to provide these children with a big dose of FUN and expose them to the natural beauty around them. Additionally, we would like the BFF to be a venue for some of the greatest minds in child welfare and juvenile justice to come together and share best practices and discuss how best to serve the needs of these children. We are rolling up our sleeves and are ready to work for the betterment of these wonderful children. Hopefully, you will join us in our efforts to provide these children a big dose of FUN and more importantly HOPE.
