HELLO OUT THERE! I set this page up a whole while back, but I regret that I have been neglecting it. But here we are at the beginning of a new year 2011, and I figured that in the spirit of resolution making, I’d change the err of my ways and try to get something movin’ and shakin’ here. My original concept was a way for people who have grown up visiting the villas since they were kids, like mysel

f, to reflect on the “good ol days” and what they remember. I know I made a few friends along the way during those “weeks” I so looked forward to [AND STILL DO!]. Of course, I now have a family of my own, and we still consider the Villas a home away from home, so I suggest that this page is for anyone who is villa owner or just a regular guest at Fernwood. There is definitely a lot to talk about: our history vacationing there, recent trips, sharing the experiences we’ve had then and now, and what we noticed during our last visit! Okay, so I look forward to seeing this page take off, hearing as many stories as we can get here, sharing some general information about what’s goin’ on at Fernwood now, and maybe just meeting some new friends along the way! FYI, for anyone who hasn't been there since last year: Everything on the Fernwood side of the road - including the game room, event center, hotel and all of the restaurants inside the lobby - has essentially been abandoned since January 2014

I know people only complain, they never praise, so I'll praise first! Overall, the villa is in pretty good shape, new appliances, nice flat-screen TV, overall THUMBS UP! That having been put forward, I really wish they could do something about the "sediment" and other various "gunk" that comes out of the whirlpool bath water. I'd have to say that in about 3/4 of my visits, I've eventually decided that for one reason or another ["too old, too much junk in the water, too pink, flat-out not working]: "I'm not getting in that thing!" I really look forward to my whirlpool time, so it's a real drag. But THAT'S IT, DON'T WANT TO TRASH TALK, but somebody really ought to address the overall whirlpool bath situation.

Well, I've finally made it back to The Villas, and as much as they've been my home away from home for over 30 years now, I can't help but think that I should bring my toolbox with me whenever I come back, just so that I can pitch in and help out with the handful of minor issues that I come across in every unit I stay in. If you’re like me, and haven't been here in a while: The Trolley Stop is now "Bleachers Sports Bar & Grill" – pretty much the same though – and Mama Bella's is now a BBQ restaurant sporting a new name. I haven't been to the pro shop yet, but it looks like Rich has retired, because there is a new PGA pro pictured in the guide now. Okay, I've got to get back to inspecting the whirlpool bath to make my final determination on whether I'm up for using it, but I'll check back in with another update if time doesn’t quite fly by as it usually does when I’m here
