Finally made it into new home in Butler!! Closed sale of Pittsburgh home and Butler home 4 hours apart!! Low stress time!! Getting tired watching my son carry items upstairs!! Balloon will be on the road from CA by weeks end. Shopping for tow vehicle this week. Class 1 Airline Pilot physical passed with EKG!! Doc says it's still beating!! Target to start flying is now mid May. Weather so bad all we missed was cancelations. Looking so forward to getting back in the air.

UPDATE!! In 1785 Robert Burns wrote, " “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”.....or Murphy's Law for short!! Sale of my Pittsburgh home fell through twice destroying my opening schedule of April 1. Sale now closes April 12. I am actively shopping for a fixer in Butler, Ellwood City area for the balloon business to have a home with a garage. Balloon with trailer will be shipped here in an enclosed trailer from CA by first or second week of May is the plan. Having studied sunrise winds every day for months, it appears early spring here is not kind to ballooning, so we most likely only missed disappointing cancellations. Also in preperation for the season, monday I go to the FAA approved doctor (AME) for my pilots physical. Balloon pilots are only required to get a class 2 physical. I have always done all in my power to be a safe pilot. Since I'm only young in my imagination now, I am doing a class 1 physical which includes EKG to be certain I have a heart which still beats. That is the same physical airline pilots are required to get.

I'm really excited to get this going again, and looking forward to meeting lots of my neighbors. I've grown fond of PA people, but I must say you need to do something about your weather!! ; )

This is the hardest time of year for a balloon pilot..... severe flying withdrawal symptoms....focused on the light at the end of the tunnel which opens to SPRING TIME!! December moves slooowly, and finally, Christmas and New Years are in the rear view mirror!! Next highway sign in Superbowl. Then March second, the first Formula One race of the 2024 season!! Finally April first arrives!!! My most memorable April 1 was in South Africa at the Sun City resort at Pilanesberg National Park. It was too windy to fly, so a guide and I went into the park in the dark, and filled two large garbage bags with elephant dung. There are 4 hotels, the fanciest being The Palace at the Lost City. In the foyer, is a life size bronze statue of a famous elephant with massive tusks. We snuck in a side door, and emptied the bags under the back of the elephant. For some reason, a friend who was chief of security for the complex immediately had me in his sights as his number one suspect. I wonder why?🤣 Happy New Year to all!!

Thanks for your reply Lisa. I suggest you have your family members check out my website butlerballooning.com so they can see my experience and safety record. IF any have fear of heights I 100% guarantee its not an issue in a balloon. I have flown many people with that fear, some who were shaking getting in........5 minutes later.....ALL were able to relax and have fun....seems for some reason the balloon vantage point doesnt trigger the fear response. I have to look away from the TV when the camera suddenly looks over the edge of a building or cliff!! One person explained for the fear to be triggered one needs to be on a stationary object with a line of sight to where it meets the ground. If anyone gets in and 5 minutes later needs to get out, I will land, have the crew pick them up for the chase, and refund their money.
