IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR CAPTAIN

After much thought and consideration I have made the decision to forgo fishing trips from June 14th through September 2nd. Over the past ten years I have been blessed to gain the best group of close supporters who have become more like family than patrons. In addition it is surreal that I have consistently put patrons on great fish, right in tight, making for some super exciting inshore fishing.

My girls are getting to the age where they need to start to learn much of what I have learned and I need to become a better dad. I am going to take this summer to become a better father and spend as much time with my family as possible. Officiating basketball, coaching soccer, and chartering has taken me places I could have never imagined; all three have given my family some amazing memories. My buddy Jayden, owner of Treway Outdoors has been my biggest supporter and gaining sponsorship from him is still something I still can not believe happened.

I hope everyone understands this decision and when I get back at it, I hope you are all there to support me. I will continue to offer clamming trips throughout the summer and fishing trips in the fall and spring. When booking a clamming trip my girls will join; lastly, we will be reaching out to everyone in regards to May and early June soon.

For quite sometime we have been shifting our charter towards more viable and sustaining options. Our freshwater, shellfishing, and crabbing trips have become much more popular over the past two years. Unfortunately Cap saw this one coming, we only hope out supporters can continue to support us no matter what the state decides. We vow to keep it small, keep it fun, and improvise when needed.

HUGE CHARTER NEWS We have been approved to begin freshwater guided trips. To be honest we have been approved for awhile but Johnny had not fished the Cape Area since his teenage years. During COVID we retuned our skills targeting trout, pickerel, crappie, and bass. Johnny would like to thank his wife for venturing to countless ponds he found on google earth and getting skunked more often than not until late April when he began to relearn the freshwater fishing landscape. The “chunker” (Johnny’s name for a nice bass) makes this a perfect time for this announcement. We will have a freshwater tab on our website in the upcoming days and can’t wait to share our favorite spots with everyone. #notyourtyipcalcharter

Captain - John Sousa USCG Six Pack Captain’s License, fully insured. John grew up fishing fresh water and salt water across Massachusetts. He is a full time Special Education at Upper Cape Tech, Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Mass Maritime Academy, and a Division II College Basketball Official.

First Mate - Erin Higgins - Erin is John’s wife, she learned the water from him the past five years and is a master of bottom fishing and live lining. She has multiple bass over 40 pounds and often “outfishes” John. Erin possess her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

I (John) have had a passion for fishing since I can remember; as I have grown older this passion has shifted more to the entire process. Literally from late April until early November my wife (Erin) and I “Live by The Sea and Plan by The Tides”. I am starting more than a fishing charter, this is a full experience with accommodations available. This is not your typical “Catch as many as possible” or “Catch the biggest possible” charter. We are going to offer this experience to friends and family first; pricing will be modest, the experience will be organic yet amazing, and most important you will get to experience the little slice of heaven we carved out on the waters edge in Buzzards Bay.
