We cannot condone murder at Thunder Mountain. But pretty much anything else is fine. đ¤Ŗ
Enjoy the trees and animals! See how many beaver logs you can find. And if you are wondering the river trail in the evening, you may even see a plump little beaver waddling along the shore! đĻĢ

The River Shack is our newest cabin on the Caddo River in Glenwood Arkansas. Just three miles from Thunder Mountain, the "Shack" is a cute little cabin perfect for a couple or solo traveler.
The Shack sits in one of the most beautiful spots on the popular Caddo River. The water depths here range from shallow to 8ft deep. It's great for spot for kayaking, tubing, snorkeling, or swimming - when it's warmer!
It's close to town on a paved road, allowing easy access to Hot Springs, Diamond and Quartz mining, restaurants, and local events.
So whether you are looking for complete seclusion on a large property (Thunder Mountain) or a more cost-friendly option on two beautiful semi-secluded acres, message us and we'll hook you up! We look forward to hosting you!

A recent guest asked me how many creeks were on the property. Their family found three.
In addition to the river, there are actually four creeks on the 80 acre property! This one is the largest and flows toward Thunder Mountain Rd and then empties into the river. These pictures were taken a couple days after some June rain.
Our family's favorite kayak route is a short 2 hour float. It starts upstream and ends at the cabin. It's a great float from April through June, but also works well throughout the summer and fall shortly after rain. On this recent trip, we started out on a perfect afternoon. Todd flipped over in the first five minutes and again about half way through the float. He is usually better! :-) The rest of the family easily paddled through the four class 1 rapids. A tree had fallen over part of the route requiring extra navigation care. Experts call it a strainer. We just call it annoying and a little scary. Once past the tree, we stopped to play in the water while one of our daughters enjoyed a turtle. We spotted a snake sunning on the bank but they always leave us alone. An otter swam by and then scampered up the bank to hide from the humans. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with the family!
