The City of Cadiz is happy to announce the Hometown Hero banners are in the process of going up today. We are thankful for our service men and women.

We are certainly proud of all that have served!

Please note we tried to group families together as best we could. Getting all of the banners up will take some time, there are only 63 lamp posts downtown with built in brackets. Pennyrile Electric was gracious enough to allow us to install brackets on their poles, this has allowed the City to honor nearly double what we could have initially accommodated.

Thank you to our Public Works Director and Street Department for their hard work in getting the process started today. There are many, many hours invested in this project and we are proud of how it has turned out.

There will be opportunities sometime in the future to place an order for new flags. Watch Facebook and WKDZ for details on when.

The Hideaway is beautiful. When you first walk in, the place smells so good and the furniture is really nice. The Hideaway is tucked in the back away from everything but is so peaceful and tranquil. Abundant wildlife is amazing to see and take pictures of. Lisa gave us a few recommendations for restaurants and shops in the area. Such as Taste of the South which is really a hidden gem with down home cooking. We had a great time and hopefully will be back again. Thank you Lisa

TWO MONTHS FROM TODAY, on Thursday morning, June 10th, the Sun will come up over the Tri-State area looking like a crescent Moon. It will be near the peak of a partial eclipse of the Sun in which 73% of the Sun's disk will be obscured by the passing New Moon.

Sunrise coinciding with the peak of a solar eclipse of large magnitude is a rather rare occurrence; for NYC is has happened only twice in the last 150 years: in Sept. 1875 and October 1959.

Make sure your alarm clock is properly set so you won't miss it . . . Sunrise that morning is as early as it can get (5:24 a.m.).

Of course, precautions must be taken in observing the partially eclipsed but still blindingly bright Sun. For many years, Sky & Telescope has provided helpful advice on the safest methods to watch a partial solar eclipse. You can review that information here:

Royal Announcement 👑🦅: Her Majesty is now accepting visitors from her Summer Palace!

If you have visited us at any point during this early spring, Artemis has been a little harder to see as we needed to keep her in her winter quarters - a nice, large, cozy box in her area that housed a heated perch to keep her warm all winter long! Now that we are past the frost-free date, she's been moved to her summer perch where her adoring subjects can easily gaze upon her. Come say hello!
