Today, Mrs. Delaney came into the Visitor Information Center to check it out. As they were leaving, she asked if we would accept a donation.

The beautiful poster we’re holding was made by hand with watercolor, and was created using both photos the artist, John Delaney, had taken himself and others he purchased of the animals underwater to accurately capture and depict the grace and beauty they move with. The poster took nine months of labor, and you can tell from the detail how much love went into it.

We invite you to check it out at the Wabanaki Culture Center on the river level, where it will be proudly displayed next to our own Maine marine life, with a description of the level of detail that went into it and a little about the artist himself. We are so honored, join us in expressing our sincerest gratitude to the Delaneys πŸ’™πŸŒ²

Our center is often able to celebrate Maine's rich history in a very unique way, and today is no different. For fun, we track national holidays, sometimes they are silly, other times they are a great way for us to converse with our visitors. Today, on National American Eagle Day, we say Kcitpot Cihpolakonok.

Said phonetically, it is Ka-Jit-Bid-Jeep-Log-In-Ugh, and it means Eagles are Sacred. Special thanks for our friends & neighbors at the Wabanaki Culture Center for always being willing to teach us something new. πŸ’™

Updates on our trail reconstruction below!

We know it's unfortunate that we have to wait a little bit longer to access the trails, but we promise that the new construction will be worth the wait. We are very thankful for the local companies trucking in crushed stone, and for Sargent's doing the reconstruction. Our trail crew is hard at work preparing to open, and we will update our social channels and website the moment we open for the season.

In the meantime, we've been getting a large response of guests checking out our Seboeis River Trail just outside of Mount Chase! We highly suggest you venture up there and check out the hike for yourself.

Earlier today, one of our smaller passengers left a friend behind. Knowing a thing or two about police officers, this adorable stuffed Paw Patrol character sought the help of K9 Tina and Officer Manuel!

If your family is missing a friend, please call Airport Lost & Found at 207-992-4600 to help Chase get home. Until then, he's safe and sound and helping BGR stay well protected! πŸš“

Acadia National Park is looking for volunteers for two organized clean up events on 5/1 and 5/3. This will be to help clear and remove debris left by unprecedented winter storms with heavy winds and rain. The park attracts up to 3 million visitors each year!

If you have the time and muscle, consider pre-registering today!

Acadia National Park and its partner Friends of Acadia are recruiting volunteers for two events to clean up debris following a series of unprecedented winter storms:

Β· Wed May 1, 8:15 am to noon, on the Schoodic Peninsula. Meet at the entrance to Schoodic Institute campus for a shuttle to the work site. In areas where heavy equipment can't be used, volunteers will be moving cobbles and marine debris that is blocking drainage and threatening wetland habitat.

Β· Fri May 3, 8:15 am to noon, at Seawall Picnic Area. Meet at picnic area. Volunteers will be moving sections of cut up downed trees to locations where they can be hauled away by machinery.

Advance reqistration required at https://friendsofacadia.org/get-involved/events/acadia-volunteer-storm-cleanup/
