The first National Road Fall Festival has been scheduled for September 30th to October 2nd, 2022. This event is being organized by National Road Yard Sale Festival Coordinators Donna Tauber and Kim Couch, to encourage communities, businesses, organizations, churches and individuals to have events and sales along the National Road, also known as US 40. The goal of a Fall Festival, in addition to the event held in late Spring, is to help bring in people and promote tourism in the old pike towns. The National Road cuts an approximately 820-mile long path through Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia and was built between 1811 and 1834. This road is the first federally funded road in U.S. history, and is often referred to as "The Road that Built the Nation." The construction opened up the country to the west for many Pioneers to begin new settlements in the western frontier. This three day event is being planned to operate independently, allowing participants to be unique in the many shops as well as individual sales.
