Every year we travel to Washington, D.C. with the 8th grade with the intention of continuing their education, rewarding their service to the school and parish, and offering them unique opportunities to see and experience each others’ friendship outside of the four walls of the school. Though we did not make that trip this year, we planned excursions in concert with each graduate to do just this.

Today, was the first of these. We visited F1 Arcade!

We saw each boy cheer the other on as he led a lap and celebrate one another’s focus (they were “locked in”). They showed a surprising natural talent for auto sports!

We experienced the successes (and learning opportunities) when racing a car in “elite” and “semi-pro” modes (the highest of the five difficulty settings).

Even after an incredible spin out, the group gave us the quote of the day. “Reverse to victory!” quickly became a rallying cry for us all.

Each played team leader as they constantly counted and examined the points spread between the two teams.

What a great outing— thanks F1 Arcade!

Turning the page to May has given us some time to reflect on what an incredible April we just had as a school community! Our trip to Chicago was a revelation! America’s Second City is a sprawling adventure with landmarks cultural, Catholic, and fun alike. From the in-the-air view of the geography below us to the cityscapes from the tops of skyscrapers, our “big city” trips help us grow in wonder at the beauty of creation and the God-given achievements of mankind. Thanks, Chicago!

We were proud to be among the Pueri Cantores Festival at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. It is an honor to sing with so many other schools in our region and we look forward to it again next year!

BOSTON -- To Richard Clark, music director of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston, few sounds are as joyful to hear as over 100 children singing in unison. Clark got to hear that sound all day

Some may continue to lament the (supposed) dearth of opera in Boston, but an honest look at these enterprising companies suggest that vivid stories are being told with invention and economy.
