Hi All! Our Kiva Loan is moving along nicely, and we just found out we've been tapped for 2x funding by The Diller-von Furstenburg Family Foundation! Ok friends! The Black Squirrel is almost fully funded, but I'm doing a Kiva loan for $5K to outfit the workshop space and buy shelving, my POS system, and other miscellaneous items for the space. Kiva is a really awesome crowdsourced loan with 0% interest, but to prove I'm legit I need *20 people* from my personal network to each loan me $25 in the next 15 days, after which they'll release my loan to their network of lenders! Happy I Love Yarn Day! I thought it would be fun to share something that has helped me in my yarn related exploits: usually I have to go up a couple needle sizes for any given pattern, I'm just a tight knitter. And when I used to try top-down sock patterns my cast on was always too tight (might be because I knit funny due to being a crocheter first, but it works for me). So I started using this method: I use 2 needles in the left had and do rear 2-needle cast on. Works like a charm every time! Also, as a shameless self-promotion, you can get the sexy yarn I'm working with from my Indiegogo! Link is in my profile!

Thank you all so much for all the contributions and sharing of our campaign during its first two days! I'm overwhelmed with warm fuzzies, but I'm still going to pester you for another 28 days to share our campaign as much as humanly possible, and in as many places as you can think of!
Indiegogo uses an algorithm to decide who gets to be on their front page and in their newsletter that hinges hugely on how much attention a campaign gets on social media. So please, even if you don't have a ton of followers, chances are someone you know on Facebook or Twitter is crafty and will be interested in what we are trying to do. Worry-Free Decluttering: 8 Things to Get Rid of that You’ll Never Even Know Are Gone

I know a lot of my friends have been decluttering lately, as have I with my upcoming downsizing. This post has some good tips, but one of my favorite solutions I came to all on my own is to compartmentalize. Choose a container you love and give it one specific purpose. If your pile of items doesn't fit then get rid of the extras. For example, I have a vintage crystal bowl I love and it houses my sunglasses. When I get new ones if they don't stay in the bowl I get rid of the old.

It’s one thing to get rid of items that have a lot of sentimental value. It’s easier to ditch stuff that you don’t care about, have duplicates of, or just don’t really need.
