Yesterday’s Let’s Go Birding walk had us at Lake Cunningham in San Jose. We found a sleeping male Ruddy Duck enjoying some alone time, while just around the corner we ran into momma Ruddy and her 4 newly hatched ducklings. Adorable! 📷 Lynn Murphy

Back from Ohio after spending time at the Biggest Week In American Birding festival. One will bird their brains out for hours everyday to see as many birds as possible. The warblers are spectacular. Just to name a few, we saw every warbler species found on their logo - Kirtland's, American Redstart, Mourning, Blackburnian and the Black & White.

One of the goals of a Let's Go Birding walk is to see great birds and learn about them and where and when to find them, however, we also like to have some fun. Last Saturday our morning bird walk had us at Vasona County Park in Los Gatos. Happy to see the two young fuzzy Great-horned Owl “babies” sitting in view watching the world below. 📸 Brian Weselby

Seatherny is pronounced "seth-er-nee".

is a word intended to evoke the sense of calmness and peace that can come from the sound of birdsong.

The "se" in seatherny represents the English word "serenity" which is a state of calmness
The "ather" represents the English word "feather" a common characteristic of birds.

Today's walk at Shoreline Lake in Mountain View proved very popular. For some this was the first time they had been birding, for others this was the first time they had been to the Bay, and for one visiting from India, he got some life birds.

We had a fantastic bird song workshop this morning up at Joseph Grant County Park in San Jose. We took a moment to enjoy the male Vermillion Flycatcher that recently returned to the park. Our guess is that it is the same one the returns each Spring.
