🌾 Last week's CCE Agritourism Bus Tour was an unforgettable journey through Madison County! 🚐 Each stop brought us closer to the heart of local agriculture, from family farms to unique experiences. Here’s a peek at our stops:
🚌 Stop 1: Local Roots Farm – On-site farm store, free-range hens, and homemade maple syrup.
💜 Stop 2: Farmstead1868 – Strolling through lavender fields learning about responsible farming and community engagement.
🐂 Stop 3: Albanese Longhorns – Majestic Texas Longhorns, ranch life, and an on-site Airbnb.
🎃 Stop 4: Our Farm – From pumpkin launching to a picture-perfect wedding venue to their roadside farm stand.
🍎 Stop 5: Critz Farms – Award-winning agritourism with pick-your-own produce and handcrafted cider and beer made from their own apples and hops.

The National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum in Peterboro, NY, honors those who fought to end slavery in the U.S. Located in the historic building where the New York State Antislavery Society first met in 1835, NAHOF keeps the legacy of abolitionists alive through education, events, and exhibitions.
By showcasing the stories of abolitionists and their fight for freedom, the museum inspires visitors to reflect on issues of justice, freedom, and human rights in the present day. 🕊️

The walk will trace a portion of the journey of 104 brave abolitionists who walked from Canastota to Peterboro during the night of October 21, 1835– they joined in the founding of the New York State Antislavery Society the
next day. This pivotal moment, sparked by Gerrit Smith's invitation to "Come to Peterboro," ignited his lifelong commitment to the abolitionist cause, transforming Central New York into a key center of abolitionist activity.
Walk in the footsteps of history and honor the New York State Anti-Slavery Society’s legacy.✨

The Gerrit Smith Estate in Peterboro, NY was the lifetime home and office of Gerrit Smith (1797-1874), one of the most powerful abolitionists in the United States. Smith helped hundreds of African Americans by purchasing their freedom, providing land and educational opportunities, and assisting families in escaping slavery through the Underground Railroad. 🕊️
The estate became a hub for abolitionist activity, where many influential reformers gathered to further the cause of freedom. Today, the Gerrit Smith Estate is a National Historic Landmark, preserving Smith’s legacy and the pivotal role Peterboro played in the fight for human rights during the abolitionist movement. 🏛️
