The natural indication of the changing seasons in Cannon Beach is when the puffins leave Haystack Rock.

A few weeks ago, the puffins officially left their burrows at Haystack Rock for this year. We can't wait until they return for the next nesting season.

Some locals would say this means it is now autumn on the coast.

Sights of the Sea Lion Rocks 🦭 🪨 🌊

Sea Lion Rocks, located in Ecola State Park, are part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is the collection of coastal rocks and islands that are protected as natural and wild habitats for shorebirds and marine mammals.

The protection, respect, and stewardship of wildlife is one of the amazing things about the Oregon Coast that Cannon Beach is proud to be a part of.

Remember: if you see birds, baby seals, or other wildlife, please keep your distance to help us keep our wildlife wild. 🤩

Sea Otters say what?!

Even a pelican had to take a good long look to confirm what it was seeing. 😳

A few weeks ago, Sea Otters were spotted in the water, just off the coast on the North end of Cannon Beach near Chapman point.

Sea Otters were once native to the Oregon Coast but are now live north and south off the California and Washington coasts. Check out Elakha Alliance for all information on Sea Otters and learn about their mission to bring sea otters back to the Oregon Coast!

It's with gratitude for our wonderful locals and visitors alike, who cherish and respect all that is Cannon Beach that we share that our town has the honor of being observed as one of the Most Beautiful Towns in America.

We wholeheartedly appreciate the care and intention that our locals and visitors instill into the town's culture of being good stewards to allow it to remain a beautiful place for humans and wildlife to coexist for many generations to come.

Small-town moments feel like magic.

Cannon Beach is an excellent place to travel to for the Fourth of July if you want a quiet celebration without fireworks. Designated as a "Safe Zone" for people and animals who wish to opt for a quiet evening, Cannon Beach provides other ways to have a great day on the coast!

For those visiting Cannon Beach and craving the thrill of a fireworks display, our neighboring city of Seaside is the place to be. Seaside promises a night of excitement and entertainment with its professional fireworks show.

Cannon Beach will hold a parade through downtown beginning at 11am on July 4th. Get there early to get a spot to view the parade.
