Here's an off-season itinerary for the mild weather ahead... the Pikes Peak Region Classic tour is a kid-friendly and self-guided tour that inlcludes, you guessed it, some of the top attractions in the Royal Gorge and Pikes Peak areas! We have a number of guests filling the cabins over the coming holidays, and we think this tour may include some pretty Colorado-esque activities that really showcase our region of the state.

The fall colors stick around a little longer in the Cañon City area! Expect to see golden cottonwood groves like these along trails in John Griffin Regional Park for the next week or two. We recommend parking at the Sell Ave Trailhead and walking downstream along the river for the best golden colors. The vantage point in this photo is about 2 miles downriver from the trailhead.

During your next visit our way, we suggest a soak in the the rejuvenating waters at Desert Reef Hot Spring located just outside of Florence, CO. A short 30 minutes from Royal Gorge Cabins, Desert Reef features 5 soaking pools rich in travertine and other minerals at a soothing temp of 100-104 degrees. We love the tranquil nature of this place, the view of the mountains, and the wide open sky. We're pretty sure you will, too!

Like our cabin rentals, Desert Reef is focused on a quality relaxing experience. You won't find crowds here, so you definitely will want to make a reservation in advance of your soak. See their website for other details like suits-optional, adults only, and more.
