AAdvantage MEMBER? YOUR MILES MAY BE AT RISK. If you book flights with a traditional travel agency, or even an online agency, you could lose your right to earn miles. American Airlines intends to stop awarding miles and loyalty points on May 1, unless you book directly with AA or through a few “preferred” channels, selected with deliberately vague and opaque criteria. Government, business, rural, and elderly travelers are at greater risk since they are required, or prefer, to book through an agency. AA clearly fears no regulatory or consumer response. Its new policy is being rushed despite well-documented technical issues, traveler complaints and industry objections. Travel agencies account for the sale of over $95 billion in airline tickets. Stop AA from disenfranchising customers who book through travel agencies by telling Congress now – Don’t let American Airlines eliminate consumer choice.

Happy Upscale Excursions Day! Today, our group departs this morning for a trip to Cleveland Playhouse for a viewing of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express. After the show, the group will enjoy a wonderful dinner at Lanning's Restaurant. Have a great trip everyone!!!

Last day in Antarctica. The Silver Endeavor arrived in to port at King George Island and we started preparing to disembark. We have to wait until the flights arrive from Punta Arenas with the new passengers before we can board their aircraft to fly back to Punta Arenas ourselves. We left the ship in 3 groups at staggered times, mine was group 3 and we stayed on the ship until almost 3:30 pm. Take a zodiac to the beach, a van to the holding area, wait for 90 minutes and finally another van to the plane to depart at 5:30 pm. Transferred to the hotel, ate dinner that was provided, showered and ready for bed. Charter flight to Santiago on Monday and then overnight flight to Dallas with a connection to Cleveland. Slowly working my way home!

Day 4 is finally the day to arrive at our ship. Our journey here took 4 flights over technically 4 days as one flight was overnight. We had flights on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday! Anyways, we had a 2 a.m. wakeup call for our 3 a.m. transfer. Our flight boarded around 430 a.m. and departure around 5 a.m. It's very weather dependent as the pilots don't use instruments but rather sight to land on the gravel runway. Clouds were moving in about 9 or 10 so we had to leave early. This ship is amazing and already we've seen penguins and humpback whales. Plus, icebergs floating all around.
Great lectures, wonderful food, spent time in the hot tub, listening to live music in lounge and taking pictures of the icebergs. What a great day!
