Located 3/4 mile before the Palo Duro Canyon State Park entrance. Family owned and operated since our doors opened, we have 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations leading the way! All of us here at Palo Duro Riding Stables are carrying on the dream of a man near and dear to our hearts, Jim Sorenson. Jim is the man who started it all back in 1962 when he purchased 400 acres of Palo Duro Canyon with his fath

er. He gave us all a beautiful home, a love and passion for our horses, and the drive to carry on his dream to make PDRS the best stable and experience in the area. We pride ourselves in happy horses here at PDRS. Whether it’s our family of horses that were born and raised in our privately owned part of PDC, or our rescue horses we’ve shown a better way of life. When they find their way to us, they stay with us. Our wonderful herd of 19 horses have experience carrying people of ALL ages! 5 years and up can ride their own, under 5 years old can ride with a parent/guardian! We are the only riding stable that starts at the top of the canyon and rides down into the bottom. We are open year-round, WEATHER-PERMITTING. Our 4-legged millionaires are chomping at the bit to share with you the experience of a lifetime! If you want beautiful canyon views from above and below, give us a holler! “THE STORY OF BRIMS ABOVE THE DOOR” All of our riders pass underneath these hats on thier way into the saddle shop before ride. And just a few look up to see them thinking they are just hung for a decorative purpose. But the story behind these three hats explains more about our business than most, if not all, of the pictures we have shared with you. You see, the hat to the left was Kodi Jo’s first one, the hat to the right was Kash’s first one, and the hat in the middle was their grandad’s last one. Thank you for choosing us and keeping the dream alive for over 60 years and counting. Yee haw!!

We just wanted to reach out to say thank you to everyone that has called and texted to make sure we’re all okay with the wild fires in the area! Happy New Year!! We’re taking a page out of our own book from 8 years ago. This upcoming New Year, we WILL ride more and worry less. It’s impossible to not smile while sitting atop a horse in the bottom of one of the most beautiful places in Texas.

We had two baby Red Tail Hawks hatch this spring! They’re a fantastic addition to our already beautiful ride through Palo Duro Canyon. Entertaining riders with spectacular stunts while slicing through the air. They are the main reason why we don’t have to be concerned with spotting rattlesnakes while down on the trail.

We love seeing our creek running again, but, unfortunately, this means we won’t be riding this weekend. Our thoughts are with the first responders working extra hard to keep everybody safe. Thank God for the moisture and we look forward to seeing y’all once we dry out a bit!

This past fall, we had the opportunity to help out a handful of Virginia Tech students film a “spaghetti” western for their senior project. (I’ll share the trailer later. Jesse got to play a small part!) As a thank you, they put together a promo video for us and we love it! Thanks, again, Thomas and friends. We had a blast!
