The Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak this weekend. During the window on Aug. 12 and 13, the waning crescent moon will be only 10% illuminated.

It also won’t rise until almost 4 a.m. (ET), meaning you have some time to view the meteor shower without any moonlight interfering.

You will have a chance to see one every couple of minutes or so if you can get to dark skies away from city lights.

Take a look after midnight and look generally anywhere in a dark part of the sky.

After an intense 14-month stay at our Sea Turtle Healing Center, a juvenile green sea turtle with a sweet name will have an even sweeter end to their rehabilitation journey with us! Banana the sea turtle will be sent home to the water on Tuesday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Hightower Beach Park, 815 Highway A1A in Satellite Beach!

Sea Turtle nesting season is in swing here on the Canaveral seashore. Remember beginning May 1st all lights on or near the beach are required to be turned off after 9pm. This is because turtles use the light reflecting off the water to help them find their way back to the sea and human lights can confuse both adult and baby hatchlings causing them to head away from the safety of the sea. 🐢

Don't forget to come out to Friday Fest this Friday, April 7 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The band this month is Whiskey JuJu. They play a mix of 70's and 80's rock and always put on a good show. UPDATE: March 20 the maiden flight of Relativity Space's, Terran 1 Rocket, Good Luck, Have Fun, is scheduled with a launch window of 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST

UPDATE: Thursday, March 9 a SpaceX Falcon 9 is scheduled to liftoff with the OneWeb17 Mission at 2:13 pm EST. The first stage booster for this launch will land at Landing Zone 1 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 14, at 8:25 pm EST a SpaceX Falcon 9 is scheduled to launch the CRS-2 SPX-27 mission to the ISS. The first stage booster for this launch will land on a drone ship in the Atlantic.
