Exit Strategy Fishing Charters

After many years of operating fishing charters I have decided to retire and have sold the boats.
My son and co Captain Seth and I have moved on to another business endeavor together and plan to spend more days on the water fishing on our personal time, we realized we have never fished less but still was on the water more than ever.
We will be on the other side of the charter business now and I’m sure jumping on a few awesome adventures and making memories.
We appreciate all of our clients over the years and enjoyed having you all onboard.

Day 142 of the nearly non stop Gulf of Mexico El Niño winds, I am no longer a charter boat captain and have transitioned to a marina attendant washing docks and un used boats 🤨

Recreational Red Snapper seasons FINALLY been released.

And for those that dont have a boat and want to get out there on a whole boat charter for up to 6 passengers with all rods, tackle, fishing licenses and fish filleting included I have plenty of dates still available in June , July and up until
The for hire closure on August 24th.

The “For Hire” Red Snapper season starts June 1st, come on out with me and load up on Red Snapper, Red Grouper, Lane Snapper and Vermillion Snapper and maybe run into a Tuna or two as we often do!

Outbound, gonna get out about 45 miles with a group of 4 for some Grouper fishing on some of the flattest seas that I’ve seen for a while.

A little break from the wind yesterday and we had awesome Red Grouper, Lane, Vermillion and Mangrove Snapper fishing as usual but this fat Amberjack made this 13yr old kid from Pennsylvania trip, a quick pic and released and called it a day on that fish.

You never know what you will find out on the Ocean.
Todays hey what the heck is that floating over there, turned out to be an Iguana 18 miles offshore.
We picked him up and kept him in one of the fish holds till we got home and released him in my back yard, we have a small population of them in my neighborhood so I’m sure he will fit in to his new area.
Only ran 22 miles out to 65’ of water because the wind was blowing pretty good so no box full of big fish today, just a lot of fish tacos.

Changed it up a little today and went Cobia fishing.
Their father said he wanted a memorable day with his boys fishing for big fish, we did just that and spent the first half of the day bending rods on large Cobia, large Amberjack and Barracuda then went looking for fish tacos.

Rates and about us.
Private Charter for up to 6 passengers fishing offshore for Red, Gag, Scamp and Black Grouper, Lane, Vermillion, Mangrove, Yellowtail and Red Snapper, Amberjack, Cobia, Blackfin Tuna and African Pompano in Federal Waters on the Gulf of Mexico.
Our vessel is a very stable 30’x10’6” Robalo with a private bathroom with 6’ 4” headroom and equipped with a vacu flush toilette and freshwater sink.
Superior Garmin GPS electronics including side scan, down scan and 2D high powered sonar, VHF Radio, Radar and EPIRB as well as inreach Satellite communication system and powered by twin 300HP Yamaha engines for a faster cruising speed exceeding 30 knots when weather conditions allow.
Additionally our vessel has a bow mounted electric motor/GPS Spot lock anchoring system so we are able to precisely stay over the schools of fish in any depth and easily relocate to new spots without wasting your valuable fishing time setting and pulling anchor.

We have rigged this vessel for comfort and speed with top end sonar for spot locating and precision spot holding which sets us above other charters!

Captain Seth and Skip Johnson are a father son crew that have been fishing Florida’s waters for many years and know where the fish are!
We are a family and kid friendly fishing charter, our goal and specialty is to keep you baited up and catching fish!

Offshore Rates
8 hours (7am-3pm) up to 40 miles offshore $1900.

10 hours (5am to 3pm) up to 60 miles offshore $2400.

Full day (3am to 3pm) 12 hours up to 60 miles offshore $2800.

12 hr (3am to 3pm) Red Snapper, June 1st to August 15th 2024 fishing 65 to 100 miles offshore $3000.

No fish no pay guarantee on all offshore trips!

6 hour (7am to 1pm) half day Harbor and Canal fishing.
ONLY AVAILABLE ON DAYS THAT IT IS TOO WINDY TO FISH OFFSHORE!!! $1020.

Typically the further/deeper water we go to the better the fishing, our best fishing is 35 to 50 miles offshore for Grouper and assorted Snapper such as Lane, Vermillion and Mangrove Snapper and 60-100 miles offshore in June through mid August for the American Red Snapper season.
NOTE: only the 12 hr June 1st to August 15th Red Snapper trip targets Red Snapper as they are not frequently caught closer than 65 miles.

Rods, bait, tackle, Fishing licenses and fish filleting included. 

Crew tip IS included in prices.

10% deposit required to book all trips.
Refund of deposit minus 3.5% credit card processing fee up to 7 days prior to trip.

For safety and comfort reasons trips will not run in predicted winds at or exceeding 12 knots/15 MPH and/or seas 3’ and larger.

All trips return by 3 to 4pm to try to avoid the often dangerous afternoon thunderstorms.

I had a Covid cancellation so I’m going to use the day to to look for some fresh spots a little further than I normally run my charters, fishing in state waters up to 9 nautical miles offshore but will be running as far as 30 miles from Boca Grand pass.
We will be bottom fishing for Mangrove and Lane Snapper, Gag Grouper, Grunts, Flounder and more from a comfortable and roomy 30’ Robalo with a flushing toilette, GPS spot lock anchoring system (no pulling anchors) and the finest electronics available.

Thursday’s weather is forecasted to be very light winds and smooth seas.

Departing from Matlacha Community Park at 7:15 am.

6 spots at $200 per person.

Bait, tackle, rods and reels and fishing licenses included.

I will be running this trip without a deck hand, if your the type that needs your baits hooked or fish filleted on the boat this trip is not for you as I will not be providing those services on this trip, $200 for a full day Gulf of Mexico trip is a very discounted rate.

It’s always a great time fishing with families, and these two kids absolutely loved fishing 🙂
These are the largest Lane snapper we have ever caught in State waters and the 11 yr old girl caught the biggest at 19”.
