ENGAGED!!!
We had a couple get engaged at the treehouse last weekend! We set up an arbor for our guest to propose under, we wrapped it in lights, wrapped trees in lights & put floating lights on the pond. We set off fireworks after the proposal & had champagne chilling in a bucket with glasses for them to celebrate! They were thrilled & we loved being part of it.

The Jason: Rendleman Orchards peaches | cream cheese | bourbon caramel | candied Missouri pecans

In the ten years I have been a nurse, Jason is by far my favorite patient. The kind of patient who renews your faith in humanity and health care, that reminds you why you chose this career in the first place. He had ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was a prime example of how joy and grief can coexist. Despite difficulty walking, talking, swallowing, and breathing (you know, every function we take for granted daily), he cracked jokes. He raced me down the ER hallway in his motorized wheelchair. He was the first and only patient I’ve visited outside of work, outside of my comfort zone. When he went on hospice care at home, it was the first time I talked about heaven with a patient. He told me, “I’ll give you a tour of the plant when you get up there.” That drive home is the kind of drive you don’t forget- orange lilies lining the side of the road, rain and welled up eyes that made it tough to see, an upbeat country song on the radio that didn’t fit. But that song was about a hometown, and while Cape isn’t where I was born, it’s filled with people I care about in a town I now call home. Jason was laid to rest July 6, 2020 with the Avenue of Flags at Cape County Park North proudly displayed. This time of year with the orange lilies and the flags reminds me that joy and grief can coexist. It won’t ever be a season of all good or all bad. Joy and grief can coexist. Here’s to the season we’re in... and I think we can all find joy in peach season. Here’s to Jason.
